No snark and genuinely curious...

I do not recall any star dook** players go out for the season or miss significant playing time. Could you name a few over the last 10 years ?
Zion?
Kyrie wasn't in the last 10 but it was a big deal
Flagg last season missed the ACCT...
Maliq Brown missed several last year with the dislocated shoulder
Jayson Tatum missed like 8 games
Amile Jefferson missed over 20 games with a broken foot
Harry Giles had a knee thing but he was basically always broken

My recollection is that Flagg turned his ankle and missed the final games of the ACCT . The x-rays were negative, but Scheyer decided to hold him out until the NCAAT out of an" abundance of caution"

Maliq Brown averaged less than 3 points/game. I wouldn't call him a star player

Jason Tatum missed his first 8 games as a freshman with a sprained foot and missed a couple of weeks at the first of the season.

I forgot about Zion but I wasn't thinking going back 7 years to remember a dook injury. He suffered a knee sprain and sat out and missed a few games, but yes he was certainly a star.

Amile Jefferson injured his foot and did miss over 20 games 11 years ago but was granted a red shirt waiver for a 5th year so he had that going for him :)

Harry Giles came to dook** in 2016 and had been injured in high school but played over 20 some games and averaged around 5 points a game. I wouldn't call him a star for the devils.

I mean sometimes there's little difference in losing a star and a key player. Losing Brown was huge. And knowing anything about him, points aren't his thing

But I mean you lost a player for 6 games. Just saying we've had our share

  1. Kendall Marshall (2012)
  2. Kenny Smith (1984)
  3. 1977 team injuries
  4. Rasheed Wallace (1995)
  5. 2019–20 injury collapse
  6. 2023 injuries
  7. Caleb Wilson (2026 – still unfolding)
Doesn't include LaGarde, Hale, Lawson Bacot, (2022)

I agree you have had your share when you go back 11 or 12 years. I have lost track of our injuries going back 12 years, but our 3 best players have suffered injuries this year which has colored my take/bias on injuries .
No worries my friend... and I will be rooting for dook** tomorrow !

Yeah losing THE player is brutal. Thankfully looks like he's on his way back. But it does suck when it's one you will only see for one year

I think we also had a covid year player get hurt and then he quit. I don't remember why he quit. Johnson or something. I barely paid attention that year. And he was a punk bitch
