He’s really, really good, but he got a little cocky and tried to do too much at the end.
I thought Scheyer made a mistake by putting it in his hands after he had just committed the TO on the previous possession. The Nipple should have been involved more there.

Flagg with two straight turnovers at the ene of the game to give Kentucky the win.
The game is giving me flashbacks to Jay Williams’ freshman year when the Blue Devils lost 2 in an early MSG event (espn scrambled to sho the consolation game when it ended up featuring them and UConn when both were upset the first day), but then chewed through the ACC going 15-1 and cruising to the ACC title.

I don’t think this team is THAT good but the roster needs time to gel around the Nipple & Flagg Show and has the opportunity to become a dominant team if they make that work. They need Foster to become a reliable scorer and the bench to produce more, though. James showed a flash or two of being the answer off the bench, but TBD. It is unlikely that Foster, Nipple and Flagg combine to go 2-17 for three again, but Nipple looks like a chucker who can shoot you or your opponent out of a game any given night. He clearly has a green light but could use some shot selection training. Like I said, though, there are likely going to be nights that he torches opponents. Seems like a guy who should have played for Boeheim somehow.

KY shows what can be done with effective use of the portal. Pope essentially started with nothing.

Regardless, ESPN likely to move dook to #1 with that performance on a neutral court.

That was a good game. Came away impressed by Pope and that Kentucky squad; to bring in so many new guys who had not played together and show a semblance of cohesion shows some good coaching. This is probably exactly he type of loss that Duke needs...tight game, important possessions. Sometimes lessons are better learned through losses. That will be a dangerous team in a couple of months.

F d00k is correct.

And Cal left KY in the cupboard, but little else. The Portal was kind to Kentucky fans.

All of this slobbering over Col. Flagg has already worn thin on the entire country. He’s like the Elon Musk of college basketball world. People have more reasons to hate d00k, as if they needed more reasons….
