Yeah that was a good no call. You can’t decide that game with a PI call on a Hail Mary.

I’ve never understood this line of thinking. (I don’t think anything that happened in this game warranted a call) but the time of game shouldn’t influence the decision to throw a flag. If it’s a penalty at 10:01 it’s a penalty at :01

If it were a completely one-sided penalty in which one team is clearly guilty and the other clearly impacted, then sure.

But if 2 players hand-fighting hard on a hail mary is called, that means you'll have offsetting penalties (DPI & OPI) and an untimed down, which unduly benefits the offense.

In the scenario you describe it would unduly benefit the offense regardless of the time on the clock.

I don't care about Miami and stopped pulling for any ACC rivals (I never pulled for dook or State, of course) after they so gleefully went after us over a decade ago in our NCAA troubles, but I do think it's fair to say that the ACC is making a much better showing for itself than anyone expected. Certainly more so than the almighty SEC. ESPN must be weeping tonight.
ESPN is not weeping that Miami won. They are a huge draw in the championship game.

Congrats EyeballKid
Thanks.

And to be fair, I do hope this dispels at least a bit of the myth surrounding the ACC.

SMU and Louisville—the 2 ACC teams Miami lost to—both won their bowl games.

Say what you will about the viability of judging conferences based on bowl performance, but I think this season should be seen as a bright spot for the conference to build upon—rather than a low point showing the deficiencies in the league.

I have no delusions that the CFB landscape will end up in any other other way than 2-4 super conferences; but I think the ACC can pull a lot of weight in that discussion, and this CFB season cements that.

On this point i still think you are delusional. The ACC is total garbage in football and has been so for many years.

Given this year in a vacuum, I take my view. I think there’s a lot of room for the conference to grow from here, provided the base that has now been laid.

I don’t see UM receeding into the shadows after this.
I think UVA and VT are now set up for success. I think UNC can potentially be in this realm once the admin figures out what the hell they want out of a football team.FSU has to be in the discussion here as well, given their history and their broad alumni base who won’t stand for this sub-par bullshit much longer.

I think SMU and GT and BC provide a solid middle ground that can challenge depending on the year.
I think NCSTlol can potentially challenge the upper tier.

You lost me at BC.

You lost me at BC.
“I think UVA and VT are now set up for success.”

That’s actually where you lost me.

The BC comment was just there to hit.

Then there’s the ncsulol comment.

The ACC is dead man walking.

It’s the P2 (SEC and Big 10),……..Big GAP….. P3 (Big 12) and…….big gap…the P4 (ACC).

Fair enough.

I hope you at least listened to Cristobal pimping the conference in the post-game interviews. Pretty sure Miami is safe no matter what happens in the conference wars; I was happy that he stood up for the ACC and noted the strength of the conference.
