You do realize that without agreement from all conferences, this ends up in court, yes?Who gives a rat’s ass what the ACC and Big12 think? Their opinion doesn’t count.

Over JMUAre you thinking that ND would replace Bama because Miami won the ACCCG? Not so sure about that.
Because reality is a thing you should consider when advancing an argument?
Reality is the SEC/Big10 controls the shots and they are not even a little bit worried about a lawsuit.Because reality is a thing you should consider when advancing an argument?
But it does require reasonable access to all levels of participation and the SEC/B1G is certainly concerned about a lawsuit over that issue. If they weren't, they'd have already gone straight "top 12 teams (by how we determine those teams) make the playoffs".Reality is the SEC/Big10 controls the shots and they are not even a little bit worried about a lawsuit.
Moreover, antitrust law does not require participation trophies. Nor does it require superior competitors to wear ankle weights so that everything is equal.
Man you reply fast. Got to give me some time to edit. But it does require reasonable access to all levels of participation and the SEC/B1G is certainly concerned about a lawsuit over that issue. But they will eventually get around that by breaking away from the ACC/Big12/G5 and forming their own tier of competition.
It seems like we ultimately agree, even if we disagree in the current system.Man you reply fast. Got to give me some time to edit.
Anyway, your last paragraph is hard to reconcile with your first paragraph.
In other CFB news...
CFB is going to have to put in place a better operational calendar so that the bowls/playoffs, coaching changes, and the transfer portal aren't all happening simultaneously. It's a bad system and needs to get fixed so that we can get through one thing before the next takes over.

I just think the group of 5 teams in the playoffs is sillyI cannot WAIT for Oregon to beat the absolute dog shit out of James Madison
That is what needs to happen. The Power 4 schools need to have their own league for football with divisions and playoffs like the NFL.That can't happen because the ACC & Big12 won't agree to it. It also can't happen because the G5 would file suit for lack of reasonable access to the CFP.
This is why the SEC & B1G will eventually raid the ACC & (maybe) the Big12 again and then break away to form a new tier of teams in a "national conference" that doesn't have to worry about the remainder ACC/Big12 plus G5 schools.
It is not a problem for the other conferences. It is for the ACC.

Agreed. Seems like the most logical and reasonable course of action (not that college sports is guided by logic or reason, but greed and power) would be to separate football from all other sports and have 4 or 5 regional conferences just for football and those teams would be the only ones to make the playoffs each year. It would restore regional rivalries and would likely be less expensive as teams wouldn't have to travel halfway or all the way across the country (see Stanford and Cal) to play conference football games. All other sports, including basketball, could stay in existing conferences.I just think the group of 5 teams in the playoffs is silly

I've been thinking about it and I'm thinking that getting players to transfer before the spring semester is going to eventually be the cost that gets paid to restore a little sanity to the process.I "guess" one big boogeyman is that you want to get your portal guys the day before spring class starts-so they are with the team several months before the season
Brillant! One adjustment that could be made is to recognize that at the highest levels players are athletes first and students second and make summers mandatory and have "summer practice" that runs for a month in late May through June.
