I’m several drinks in but a scenario where Dabo and Clemson mutually agree to part ways is starting to look like an appealing prospect.
Brother you are on a UNC board. Clemson looked a little sketchy yesterday but in the grand scheme of things you guys have zero grounds to even think about wanting to fire Dabo over it lol. That’s a ridiculous take.

How bad is Va Tech? I thought they might be decent after a respectable showing against S Carolina.
Few college football programs have fallen harder than the Hokies. In Beamer's prime they flirted with being a national power for awhile before gradually falling back to Earth. And now they're just another has-been and mostly irrelevant program nationally. Given what's happened to college sports with the transfer portal and paying players it's hard to see them ever regaining what they used to be, as I doubt they have the resources compared to SEC and Big 10 (and even some ACC) schools to become seriously competitive at the national level again. If they're lucky they might eventually return to being competitive within the ACC.

Oklahoma State appears to be a peer.

I completely forgot how fucking how Wallace Wade Stadium can be for a nooner in September. There were a couple of medical incidents (Aside from the on-field slaughter) and they were passing out free water. It was HOT!

I think that is true from the Triangle and East, not just at WW … I know I always found September games in Kenan nearly unbearable. But maybe WW lacks shade options for people to cool off on a concourse etc?

The only shade on the concourse is under the press box/suites. There were thousands of people huddled under there. The heat radiates off those aluminum bleachers, before those plastic blue seats it was worse.

Some of ya’ll didn’t grow up in Florida, and it shows.

I recall doing 2-a-days in July and August when I tried out for my high school team. And then later attending games at UF and FSU with temps in the mid-90s and humidity through the roof.

Kenan has more share for sure. and then anywhere with aluminum bleachers turns into a roaster. I left at the half. I did not even care it was a 1 point game. That sucked.

I attended a game at Kenan in early September 21 years ago while I was pregnant and you want to talk about roasting!!! LOL. I think I ate a dozen frozen lemonades that day. A lady send her kid over to loan me her little fan/water blower thing because I was so pink-faced (I am a paleface and turn pink faced with even mild exertion, it is sort of ridiculous).

I was standing on the wall Saturday (Which is harder to do since the renovations) and there was a man in a wheelchair in the ADA section in front of me and his poor knees/thighs were fucking FIRE red. I thought to myself (and I wasn't trying to be funny or insensitive) that if he could feel his legs, he'd probably seek some sort of shelter.

What time did games in Kenan start in the late ‘60’s through about 1975? 1:30?

No games were played before Sept. 19th or so. It was early ‘70’s before games were played as early as the 12th and 1975 before a game was on the 6th.

Our seats were on the upper deck, visitor’s side of the field.

Those were hot seats. Full sun. In your face sun. Of course, the house, the family cars, the schools, the school buses, grandparents’s houses in Florida (and we went in August)……no air conditioning.

So, hot was what it was.

They have fallen on hard times but as someone who lived in Northern Virginia for 16 years, there is a lot of money floating around Tech grads. And they care about football.

We’ll see. I didn’t like them as they were sort of arrogant considering their short history of success but I have to think there is money there.

Maybe. I have my doubts that they have the same level of deep pockets (football donors) as most SEC or Big 10 schools and can compete with paying top players and drawing top transfers with those schools, but you may be right. At any rate they're likely in for a long recovery period.
