Apparently Todd Mcshay liked him after seeing him at a camp throwing vs zero pressure...
Makes sense. Gio had a good first half when our OL gave him plenty of time to throw. 2nd half a different story as UVA dialed up the pressure.

And, who is Todd McShay?
Here's what he said, among great competition.

"Lopez transferred from South Alabama to become Bill Belichick’s first college QB. He’s short but has BIG arm talent and killed it in the QB competition over the weekend. The deep ball specifically is beautiful and it’s clear he has a lot of confidence in his arm."

Bit there's obviously zero rushers...

Good problem is quick decision making, not arm talent.

Somebody explain this to me, please, because I am clearly stupid. If you are an ultra wealthy person, why in the world would you get enjoyment out of forking over $55 million of your own money so that some dude who sucks at his job doesn’t have to work anymore?

What bothers me more is why said individual wasn't willing to part with the same sum to the same university for other more pressing matters? I know its his money and I know it have also given to UNC athletics in at least commensurate levels as academics...but we are talking such a huge sum. How much good could that gift do for the university at large?

Its his, money, he can do what he wants. You were griping about Lombardii and The Saudis and said you were calling the Rams Club and holding back some donations. Again your money your right

Correct and I said as much. I also have the right to be curious why someone would value football so much moreso than the university at large.

First, we don't know how much said donor may have given to the academic side of LSU.

Second, it's LSU, the money is probably best spent on the football team.

Allegedly – and I’m basing this off of nothing more than rumor on CFB Reddit- but allegedly the individual donor is a big tech person who grew up in Baton Rouge a huge LSU fan but who went to an Ivy League school.
