Recruits don't care too much about that. They care about getting paid.Disagree.
A lot of these teams are vying for positions in the final top-25. This is their last chance to impress recruits and transfers.

I’d counter that (a) when you’re looking at fringe top-25 teams, many of them likely have similar NIL $$, and (b) a bowl win and a top-25 ranking could prompt collectives to give more, in hopes of sustained success and improvement.Recruits don't care too much about that. I would not. I don't pay any attention at all to bowl games and you have never seen me cite them for anything. I also dont cheerlead the SEC very much. Im the one who takes heat for routinely saying the BIG is the better football league.I agree, but if that stat were reversed, I am sure @wmheel1287 would cite it as proof of how terrible the ACC is.
In terms of league leadership and overall focus on and support for football, I have no qualms agreeing with you that the ACC lags far behind. And the kowtowing to ND and the weird fuckery with regard to picking teams for the conference champ game are two egregious examples.I would not. Should we just rename it the Duke Bukakke Bowl and be done with it?The first ACC Mayo bath.
Bowl games are pretty separate from the regular season. Players and coaches have checked out, many have left or opted out. Some are several weeks removed from the previous games. For me they don't accurately reflect how good or bad that team was during the season. In terms of league leadership and overall focus on and support for football, I have no qualms agreeing with you that the ACC lags far behind. In terms of the overall quality of teams, I’m not sure how one can discount bowl games any more than one can discount head-to-head matchups during the season.
Given Miami’s performance in the CFP—as well as in-season games vs ND and a maligned UF team—and the ACC record in bowl games, I’m not sure I see a huge disparity on the field.
I do think that Clemson’s done for as long as Dabo coaches there. And I’m not sold on Norvell turning things around at FSU. And I have zero clue what UNC’s leadership is thinking.
But I do think that Franklin can make an immediate impact at VT. And I think SMU, GT, Duke, UVA, and Pitt will maintain a solid middle ground.
Correct. Regular season games (even early ones) are a far better reflection of the teams than bowl games. Even half the kids actually playing already know they are out the door. How many declare for the portal the day after their game? How many already have negotiated their next deal during bowl prep?Bowl games are pretty separate from the regular season. The playoffs are different because the teams are basically intact and everyone is highly motivated.
The bowls are now only as measurable (and interesting) as a pre-season game.Correct. Regular season games (even early ones) are a far better reflection of the teams than bowl games. Rice and Miss st both obliged to provide you more 5-8'sI've tried googling to see the results of previous 5-7 teams in bowl games and the only result on the first couple of pages of the search show that Rutgers in 2015 lost its bowl to finish 5-8. Rice and Mississippi State have chances to join the group later this season.
Great pointThe bowls are now only as measurable (and interesting) as a pre-season game.
