Conference Realignment

No way that clemson or Fla st goes to the sec. Florida and lil’ Carolina like their state dominance in that conference and would be opposed to adding the in-state competition. Todays environment is more about media eyeballs, which is why UNC and uva will end up in the sec.

Surprised no mention of this yet. IMO this is where college sports are heading. News that Stanford volleyball has 30,000 miles of travel this season is asinine

I love this model so much.

Really like this. I wish the original Power 5 had broken away from the NCAA years ago and formed their own league. They had 64 teams and 65 with Notre Dame. Could have had 8 different regions with 8 teams and one of them with 9 with Notre Dame.

When the music stops, there is zero chance Wake Forest and Clemson will be playing in the same league and getting an even share of the money.

Far fewer than 72 schools will end up at the big boys table

I love the idea of a model that reverts back to smaller, more regionalized conferences, but I have a hard time believing anything like that graph will actually come to pass. The Big10 and SEC have it too good right now. They’re not going to willingly spread around the money to teams like Wake or BC.

I hope they got their frequent flier accounts set up.

I think they have it good in theory. But the West Coast schools are going to have issues. Quickly

Really like the concept but agree it probably doesn’t happen because of SEC & Big 10. And those groupings would definitely need tweaking…no idea why Navy would get a seat at the big boy conference while UConn and their hoops programs get left out.

Honestly I’m a little burned out on conference realignment talk to really flesh out my thoughts haha but just reading the tea leaves and going off of everything that’s already happened, I’m afraid the gap between the P2 leagues and the rest of the country is only going to get wider. Just can’t picture concerns about Stanford’s hectic volleyball travel schedule moving the needle at all.

I understand why realignment happened, I still hate it, this would be a really nice way to fix it, but I don't see it happening.

I think this is football, but Boise St got relegated, too.

I don’t take A&M ridicule personal. It’s a very diverse institution and much more mainstream than most perceive; however, much of its forwarding facing image is rightfully mocked, IMO.
My goodness. I just revisited this and I was an ahole. I am sorry.

Yep. My guess is more like 35-40.

From an OU perspective, no thanks on being back in the Big 8 minus Nebraska.

It seems whoever putt this together doesn’t own a map. Notre Dame is in Indiana, why group them with east coast teams? Ohio St in a conference with no teams in a bordering state? Navy, UCF, and Memphis at the big boy table? This needs a LOT of work (and someone who knows how to operate Google maps.)

It is I will say an attempt by some-and I guess Bubba was involved-to realign in a manner that is not just the BIG and SEC basically taking over
