Another gold card member of the FAFO Club. Just a few years ago there were articles about what a bright political future she had, and she was portrayed as intelligent, articulate, and one of the party's brightest female up-and-coming stars. And then she sold her soul to MAGA and Trumpism and now she's completely out of politics. Too damn bad. And on a side note, it's really interesting at the number of female GOP politicians who have had their political careers ruined or limited after signing on with the MAGA movement. It's almost as if Trump and his movement are misogynistic and sexist or something.

Everything Trump touches ... dies. Throw Stefanik's political career into the grave.

Sparse turnout for Trump rally in Rocky Mount . MAGA merch vendors at the rally were disappointed...

more from the rally and now I am upset that the Mar-A- Lago FBI "raid" messed up Melania's underwear drawer. I mean when you are searching for classified documents, is there any reason to open Melania's underwear drawer ?

Describing Melanie Trump as “a very meticulous person,” Trump told the crowd of rallygoers that the First Lady makes sure “everything is perfect” with her belongings.

“Her undergarments – always nice, sometimes referred to as panties – are folded perfect, wrapped. They’re like, so perfect. I think that she steams them, makes sure they’re just sitting.”

According to the president, that order was disrupted during the search. “She opened the drawers, and it was not that way,” he said. “They were a mess.

This seems doubtful to me. With the absolutely enormous amount--in terms of volume and disgusting subject matter--of Kompromat that Vlad "the Ras" Putin has on St. Donald of Mar-a-Lago, why would he need a more . . . pliable . . . intermediary.

What's the use in owning Trump if you can't play with him once in a while? Who knows? Maybe just a gentle jerk on his choke collar.

I don’t know. Putin has seemed to enjoy toying with Witkoff for months.

A Somber Mood at Science Meeting as Trump Budget Cuts Continue

News of the breakup of a leading science institution rippled through an annual gathering of Earth, ocean and space scientists. Many say American science is suffering under the Trump administration.

“… “You could feel the energy in the room, and it was very sad,” said Mohammed Shehzaib Ali, a graduate student at North Carolina State University who uses NCAR’s supercomputer to run programs to understand how weather patterns affect air pollution from wildfires. “Atmospheric science is built on collaboration, and NCAR is the pathway through which we collaborate,” Mr. Shehzaib Ali said.

The center’s 830 employees conduct research on weather, climate and energy systems, and operate supercomputers that are used by thousands of scientists across the globe. In his announcement, Russell Vought, the director of the Office of Management and Budget, called NCAR “one of the largest sources of climate alarmism in the country.”

… Brandon Jones, the president of the American Geophysical Union, said the Trump administration had removed data from federal websites, frozen or canceled grants for climate research and weakened regulations designed to protect public health and the environment.

“What we’ve experienced this past year is not an abstract policy disagreement,” Dr. Jones said. “It’s a fundamental disruption of the systems that allow science in this country to function.”…”

Trump Signs Law Repealing Tough Sanctions on Syria

The Caesar Act was imposed in 2019 in response to widespread and systematic violations of human rights by the regime of former dictator Bashar al-Assad.

“… The repeal of the measure, known as the Caesar Act, follows the earlier removal of other U.S. sanctions. It bolsters the new government’s efforts to attract foreign investment, rebuild a nation in ruins and revive an economy long crippled by corruption and cronyism. But the path to recovery remains long and uncertain, as the government must address rampant inflation, widespread unemployment and the destruction of infrastructure — all exacerbated by years of conflict and international isolation.

… The removal of those sanctions is a victory for President Ahmed al-Sharaa, a former Al Qaeda leader who broke with the group years ago and whose forces toppled the Assad regime last December.

In recent months, the Trump administration has thrown its support behind Mr. al-Sharaa and his government. In June, Mr. Trump signed an executive order lifting most of Syria’s economic sanctions. Mr. al-Sharaa met with Mr. Trump at the White House in November.

The removal of the Caesar sanctions required the extra step of Congressional approval. It passed the Senate on Wednesday as part of a larger defense spending bill.…”
