In July, she announced the change with great fanfare, granting the shoes-on policy to passengers even if they weren’t enrolled in the Transportation Security Administration’s precheck program. The announcement to eliminate what millions of travelers view as a nuisance was one of Noem’s most politically popular moves to date.

But a classified November report by the Department of Homeland Security’s inspector general, the agency’s top watchdog, found that some of the TSA full-body scanners that most airline passengers pass through can’t scan shoes, according to people familiar with the report’s contents. The report determined Noem’s policy move had inadvertently created a new security vulnerability in the system. Some White House officials have been made aware of the report.

When the secretary’s office was briefed on the report, officials there gave it a higher level of classification and blocked it from being publicly released, people familiar with the matter said. A spokeswoman for the department disputed the inspector general’s claims and said Noem had appropriately responded to the findings.

Many homeland-security officials said Noem’s handling of the inspector general report fits a pattern in which she has ignored or played down national-security concerns…”

An unnamed State official told The Daily Caller that the exam was updated to ensure that hiring was “merit-based.” The old one, they contended, was “riddled with D.E.I. principles,” such as asking applicants whether they were drawn to other cultures or people whose first language wasn’t English. To some, those questions might have been meant to reveal the kind of curiosity required of a diplomat. For the Trump administration, however, the queries were “designed to exclude some ordinary Americans from the Foreign Service based on their upbringing.”

Gone too was the section on situational judgment, which asked applicants to choose the best and worst approaches to a thorny scenario. Instead, the test was mostly multiple choice, including questions about the American political system and a “logical reasoning” section, heavily inflected with statistics. (A website that sells its test-prep services for the foreign service exam says the new FSOT is “part Jeopardy, part SAT, and part LSAT.”)

There were also new kinds of questions about the current president’s policies. “It was a series of questions like, Trump, in April 2025, instituted this executive order. Do you agree or disagree with this E.O.?” one source with knowledge of the test told me. “It was testing your knowledge of this administration, but it’s also kind of a loyalty test.”…”

The B.F.F., which is affiliated with the Heritage Foundation, aims to be a kind of Federalist Society for the foreign service. It was founded under the coded banner of “meritocracy” and supporting the America First agenda, but word around Foggy Bottom is that it is the group to join if you want to advance in your career—which perhaps explains its explosive growth in the past year.

The B.F.F.s have already held a recruitment event at Liberty University’s Jesse Helms School of Government.

“They want to say, ‘Nobody is joining the foreign service under Biden’s rules,’” a senior diplomat involved in recruitment told me. “‘We’re picking our people our own way.’”…”
 
Dismantling the circus tent of a government created by Trump Administration clowns will be a years-long endeavor once the bad actors are thrown out. Rebuilding a credible government will be a monumental task and the credibility of the US will never be fully restored. Yet there are still millions of Americans too stupid to be embarrassed by this fiasco of a government.

Indeed. The edge of his makeup is usually a nice clean line, not unlike one of those well manicured yards in the posh neighborhoods. This is more of a blue collar lawnscape. Who says he isn't a man of the people?

Naming a “School of Government” for a man who despised government and education at a “University” that rejects actual learning named “Liberty” that wants to deny freedom for a significant portion of people has got to be among the most intellectually dishonest things I’ve seen in a while.
