What in THE Hell?

What in THE Hell?

[and no indication what led up to this or why the kid’s fly is undone]

I am reminded of the following exchange in the movie "Absence of Malice" -
James J. Wells: What'd you figure you'd do after government service Elliott?
Elliot Rosen: I'm not quitting.
James J. Wells: You ain't no Presidential Appointee, Elliot; the one that hired you is me. You've got 30 days.

OTOH, it also has a handy ICE tip button:

It was also the reason for a bunch of weird White House posts of pixelated photos and weird short video snippets (including one with a “has it launched yet” framed as an accidental recording that freaked some people out because war in Iran).

Her situation has nothing to do with the amount of melanin in her skin. It has to do with the fact that she was born at home and never got a birth certificate. That is not unique to people over X amount of melanin.
It is not unique -- that much is true. Indeed, I was born in black hospital because my mom's labor proceeded very fast and there was no time to get to the white hospital.

For years and years I had trouble getting copies of my birth certificate, because the records at the black hospital were shoddy. Can you think of a reason why? It got better once the records were centralized but that's not the case everywhere.

So it's not unique. It is, however, disproportionate. Again, even you can understand why. If you're having trouble, I will point you to those phrases above, "black hospital," and "white hospital." I'd also add that I was born well after the Civil Rights Act was passed. The institutional racism did not just vanish. Whatever one thinks about systemic racism today, surely everyone can admit that systemic racism extended well into the 80s. I was bussed in the 80s because they were still trying to desegregate schools.

I gotta say, I have a bad feeling about this birthright citizenship case. My bad feeling is based on nothing specific. Several of the swing justices have already been on record saying that birthright citizenship is a part of the 14th. Still, the conservative justices are gullible and easily led astray. The arguments from the White House are hilariously inadequate -- maybe that's what makes me get nervous. It reminds of the hilariously stupid arguments in Trump v. US

Unless I’m missing something, the administration did not put up a single high level official to talk about either Iraq or the economy on the Sunday shows today. Homan was on a couple of them, presumably to complain about ICE/CBP funding, but nobody else. That strikes me as them recognizing they’re in a world of hurt on the most critical issues of this moment.

I had flashbacks to Deliverance after listening to the accents in the video and then the resource officer placing the kid on his knees.
