“…
The nomination of Michael Waltz, the former national security adviser, to serve as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations advanced out of committee with one Democrat voting yes and one Republican voting no in the final 12-to-10 count. Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky was the sole Republican who sought to impede Waltz’s path to a full Senate vote, while Senator Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire broke with her fellow Democrats to support his nomination.

Shaheen acknowledged in a statement Waltz’s use of an unclassified app, Signal, to discuss sensitive information with other administration officials, but said he “represents a moderating force with a distinguished record of military service and an extensive background in national security policymaking.”…”

Well this sounds sinister

“In particular, Skydance has made written commitments to ensure that the new company’s programming embodies a diversity of viewpoints from across the political and ideological spectrum. Skydance will also adopt measures that can root out the bias that has undermined trust in the national news media. These commitments, if implemented, would enable CBS to operate in the public interest and focus on fair, unbiased, and fact-based coverage. Doing so would begin the process of earning back Americans’ trust. Today’s decision also marks another step forward in the FCC’s efforts to eliminate invidious forms of DEI.”

Orbanism in America.

Skynet may yet turn out to be the preferable option.

All of that verbiage to just say that CBS will be moving in a rightward, MAGA direction that will in no way offend Donald Trump. The "rooting out the bias [liberal] that has undermined trust in the national news media" could have been written by a Trump White House PR flack. I look forward to CBS competing with Fox, OAN, and Newsmax to outdo one another in singing the praises of Dear Leader.

Nothing in that agreement is enforceable. The government cannot censor speech even if a person "consents" any more than a person can sell themselves into slavery.

Once there's no FCC pressure on the stockholders, the company can do whatever the fuck it wants and tell Trump to fuck himself all the way to Ellis Island.
