I would tweak the statement a bit for the majority of (white?) Evangelicals (plus other Christian conservatives):

And that Stephen Miller statement about "remigrating" (deporting) all migration to small-town America (an "invasion") is chilling. I know that in many small towns across the country - even in towns where the economy isn't good and the factories have mostly closed and the population is stagnant or declining - there has still been a significant increase in immigration, especially from Latin America, and they are becoming a more visible presence in many of these places. And no doubt the still-dominant local native-born white community fears these people - I've seen and heard it. Miller is directly playing to the worst fears and prejudices of their base on this, and it will likely have some very ugly consequences in many small towns and rural areas in many different ways.

For a state that supposedly values macho, cowboy, tough individualists, Texas sure does love electing them some gutless coward Republicans like Cruz, Abbott, Cornyn, etc. Just keep passing the buck to everyone else and hope the voters never get angry enough to actually not vote for you in your next election.
