That's a load. If the officer's actions were reasonable then her estate deserves nothing.I'm not saying the officer should have been criminally prosecuted. The Justice Department determined that the officer's actions were reasonable given the circumstances to avoid a criminal prosecution. But in the civil lawsuit, it was alleged that he:
*failed to de-escalate the situation
*did not give Babbitt any warnings before opening fire.
She was an unarmed Air Force veteran.
The lawsuit claimed the Capitol Police was negligent, claiming they should have known this particular officer was prone to behaving in such a dangerous or incompetent manner given his past record.
In conclusion, I have no issue with the DOJ entering into a civil settlement with her Estate.
I really hate that she is dead. It's sad that she got caught up in a cult movement and it cost her life. But one has to consider the risk of participating in an insurrection.
Can you imagine if they would have succeeded?
It's still amazing how on January 7th, the whole nation was distraught and felt we were at a low point, then 4 years of Camarillo and trump completely changed the narrative to January 6th being a celebration and the cult bought it 100%. His involvement should have disqualified him from any public office.
