Proud of what? Being gay means you are attracted to the same sex as you. Why should there be pride in sexual attraction, especially when you literally had NO part in determining it? It's like me throwing a "5'11" height" parade.

I don't think they're unacceptable. I just think they're ridiculous.
Have you ever been discriminated against for being 5’11”? Have people told you you disgusted them or were going to hell for being that height? Have you been denied housing, baked goods or the right to adopt because of it? Has anyone ever threatened you for it? Do you know of others who have been?
I’m confident you’re smart enough to see the difference despite being miserable enough to ignore it anyway.

Answer the actual question. How does another person's life affect you? Another person that you don't know and have no interaction with. How does it impact you?
I never said gay pride parades impacted me. I never said they couldn't/shouldn't happen.

I just said they are ridiculous because it's a parade based on sexual attraction which is a ridiculous reason in itself and even more so when you consider that nobody picks their sexual attraction anymore than they pick their height.

It's equally, if not more so, ridiculous to discriminate against someone because they want their sexual partner to have the same genitals as them.

Basing any opinion on the writings of iron age men, who couldn't explain where the sun went at night, is also ridiculous.

Ridiculousness in, ridiculousness out, I guess.

You are wrong. It isn't a parade based on sexual attraction. It's a parade to celebrate freedoms and accomplishment towards the equal treatment of people who have been marginalized. There is so much more to love, relationships, and attraction than sex. But people, like you, that want to oversimplify the story are the reason the struggle continues.

No, zen is more than likely an average white man who has never had to experience discrimination.

Thought, based on his stance regarding trans women, I suspect a women or Trans female did something to make him feel inferior. Maybe they beat him at pickleball.

So zen, how would you handle the situation if one of your children comes out as LBGTQ and wants to go to a pride parade? Or worse, what if one of your children is trans and wants to play sports?

Will you tell them how ridiculous it is? Just stay in the closet and dont be ridiculous in public? Will you tell them they can't pay sports because of what others think and they might pose some imagined risk?

I would encourage them to go if that's what they want to do.
Or worse, what if one of your children is trans and wants to play sports?
If they're a trans male, I would encourage them. If they were a trans females, I would discourage them, leaving the decision ultimately up to them.
Will you tell them how ridiculous it is?
Not in those terms and depending on how old they are, I might.
Just stay in the closet and dont be ridiculous in public?
I would never keep my children in a closet.
Will you tell them they can't pay sports because of what others think and they might pose some imagined risk?
If they were a trans female, and had reap the benefits of male puberty, I would have an honest conversation with them about the advantage they're going to have over other females.

EDIT: I would like to believe I have instilled in both of my children the importance of not caring about superficial characteristics, So there is a decent chance that either of my kids, were they to come out as homosexual, would already see the ridiculousness of having a parade about it.

No, it's a demonstration of their "fight" back against all the bullshit that have been put on them for a very long time, celebration of life, remembrance of those that have been murdered for being gay or lost to AIDS, and many many more reasons. Surely you would agree that those reasons, at least, are a reason for demonstrating.

I think what you're saying is that you want to have a Heterosexual Pride parade, with fast cars, cold beers and hot chicks. I'm with ya.

They might have cold beer and fast cars; but, the incels who would promote and participate in a Heterosexual Pride Parade are not attracting hot women.

Eh, as a gay man, I find pride, clothing advertising sexuality, and parades all to be silly. It doesn't bother me that they exist but you'll never see me participating. Hell, I've only been to a gay bar twice in my life.

It's kinda sad you still don't get it after posters have pointed out in detail that being gay is more than just sexual attraction anymore than being straight is all about sexual attraction. The difference is...well, you know what the difference is, no ?
