I've heard a few pretty good theories, including some articles posted here. By "good", I mean they make sense; I can see the mechanism by which the cause causes the effect. "Woke" isn't one of them. My God, everything bad is caused by woke. Remember the wokeism that caused the ship to hit the bridge in Baltimore? Remember the wokeism that caused the plane crash in DC? That is mind-numbingly stupid. By the way, Boeing is headquartered in VA, not "woke" Seattle.

One good theory that I have heard is that management decoupled from engineering and operations when they moved HQ to Chicago and then VA. Now that doesn't mean the move caused the decoupling, rather it was part of the decoupling. They lost focus on building good planes. Hopefully they can "couple" again. America needs it.

Full disclosure: My opinion certainly has some unconscious bias. In my case, it is the bias of an engineer who has been in development and manufacturing for over 30 years.
Apropos of nothing and despite all Boeing’s troubles, I still think the 787 is a great plane.

You were actually proud to post this?

My God, you are a piece of shit human being.

Can you explain what makes these people different than the hundreds of thousand people from South American countries that seek asylum every year? Trump has put a halt to all asylum requests, yet rolls out the red carpet for these folks. Why is that? How are they different?

And don’t bother with the BS about them getting moved off their land. Aside from the fact there isn’t any evidence that’s happened, the folks who seek asylum from other countries also have no land or place to call home. So there is no difference there.

What about religious freedom? Also a load of bullshit. Like the folks that migrate from Central and South America aren’t among the most openly religious people on earth. So no difference there.

What else makes this group of people “special” enough in Donald Trump’s eyes to warrant the red carpet treatment while folks from south of the border are greeted with a wall and accusations of criminality?

I know the answer. And so do you.

Explain it to me, please.
Genocide

A tip of the hat to ZZLers on this thread for essentially ignoring the garbage posted by Silence Dogood here and continuing the ongoing conversation. The lack of response to his bullshit kept the troll from derailing the thread. I wish I could say the same about the board’s ability to ignore ZenMode.

Thank you!

Seriously, how could you not appreciate Zen's take on tariffs and Japanese cars the other day. You can't get that particular kind of take from just anybody.

Liberals don't have that strong core of voters that will vote Republican because of guns, race and God, no matter what the reality of what is best for the country might be. That's not the only people they draw or the only reason they draw them but it gives them a solid voting bloc that Democrats can't match.
Personally, I have been voting D lately BECAUSE OF God, family values, law and order, supporting our military, and the economy. The MAGA movement seems antithetical to all of that. I could never bring myself to vote “M” just because they pretend to support those values. Their actions show quite the opposite. 🤷

Boeing's fall is a familiar one. They hired management who were more interested in propping up the stock price thru buybacks and expense cuts than they were in building great airplanes. You can't keep making great products or technology without the acceptance of short-term risk for a long-term vision that may or may not work out.
Honestly, that very aptly describes the reasons for the downfall of much of our economy and the decline of the middle class since the 1980s - too many companies focusing more on their stocks and executive salaries rather than their product line and employees.

Agreed. Clinton actually had some good to great policy proposals, but she never seemed to talk about them on the trail. I think she was uniquely unsuited for the moment. Maybe a better campaign would’ve helped her, but I’m not sure it wasn’t just baked into her as a politician by 2016.
Agreed for the most part, although I do think a good part of her undoing in 2016 was the feeling that they had the election in the bag because there was simply no way that enough people would vote for Donald Freaking Trump for him to win. And to be fair it wasn't just her campaign that felt that way, so did most people, including, I suspect, even most of Trump's voters that year and probably even Trump himself. I'll admit that I felt that way at the time, and I heard plenty of others say the same. And that sense of complacency really helped lead to her downfall.

I am curious as to whether or not the Saudis offered Trump more personal wealth than Putin did, and flattered him more, and he changed alliances.

Or this is all a distraction, but I’m not convinced that it is this time.

Julius Malema’s Economic Freedom Fighters Party has 39/400 seats in the National Assembly. The ANC expelled him from that party about 12 years ago.

He’s been convicted of hate speech twice.

The EFF is communist and a black nationalist party.

Lots of corruption allegations around the guy.

He’s a LONG, LONG way from being South Africa’s head of state.

I have it on good authority that Malema is "the likely future leader of South Africa."

Silence, where is your proof of the genocide of whites in South Africa?

You used the word. Now show the proof.
