CURRENT EVENTS - May

I’ll be sad to see if Spirit goes. It often had significantly cheaper flights - especially if you didn’t need luggage or care about seat selection. It was great for solo travelers. As the low cost carriers fold, the majors continue to jack rates. This is not good for consumers.
Maybe they aren't prominent in the eastern part of the US, but we have Allegiant Air which is basically the same thing.

They used to have a lot more east coast flights. They scaled way back the last couple of years. Their seats were very uncomfortable once you got beyond 3 hours. But they were pretty good for short hops - like SoCal to Vegas.

“… Alterations to the interior have focused on removing the Arabic-language exit signs and the contemporary artwork once enjoyed by the Qatari royals. But the oversize leather seats, plush couches and even the faux library bookcases are all staying, albeit with U.S. presidential seals now affixed to the walls, officials said.

… Trump didn’t provide the Air Force direction on the interior, Air Force officials said, although the president did select the red, white and blue design that will be painted on the exterior. …”

Truth be told, I detest that show because of its reality TV/“infotainment”/depraved nature. CNN actively paying Scott Jennings to appear on the show makes it significantly worse. It’s depressing that he is likely going to be elected to some political office in the future because conservatives will enjoy that he angers libs and that’s all.
It’s the modern version of “Counterpoint” or whatever that ‘80’s show was featuring yelling was.

Perhaps. Though I seem to recall that the “combatants” back in the 80s had more decorum and actually spoke to the issues. I do wonder what the righty talking heads of that time (pre-FOX, mostly pre-Limbaugh) would make of Trump.

A little over a week ago in Guatemala:

El Volcan Santiaguito -- pretty near Guatemala's second largest city, Quetzaltenango, better known in the country as Xela (Shella). I lived there once for about 6 months and thoroughly enjoy the town. My wife and I plan on moving there eventually...she wants the area around Antigua but I'd prefer Xela ( plus the cost of living there is much lower). Never got into climbing volcanos. I have a very good Guatemalan friend that guides all sorts of trips from volcanos to museums to the jungle and more so if anyone is thinking of going there let me know and I'll connect you with him (he once lived in Chapel Hill and worked at Pyewacket).

Not in the 70s. I remember one commentator saying to his counter-part, "Jane, you ignorant slut!"

That was on SNL. It was a takeoff by Dan Aykroyd and Jane Curtin on a segment on 60 Minutes at the time called Point/Counterpoint. Can’t remember the two people’s names, but one was a conservative man and the other a liberal woman.
