Grandpa is cranky today and wants everyone to know it

Biden had the worst inflation “… in 48 years but most people say ever recorded, don’t remember that? Right? Don’t remember it? Did they have the highest inflation in 48 years? Did they you you just answer me the question! You know the answer. The answer is yes! They had the worst inflation in 48 years. We have almost no inflation. We’re down now to two percent and we’ll be at maybe one percent you want to always stay above one percent actually you want a little tiny bit of inflation we’re at a perfect number.”

The annual inflation rate in 2021 (7.0%) was the worst since 1981, but at least in 2021 the economy was also expanding substantially (the economy was generally in contraction during the worse inflation in the 1970s and early 1980s).

I really wish the press would sometimes just ask him simple fact questions.

"Mr. President, what was the annualized inflation rate the day before you took office in January? What is it today?"

"What's the average price across the nation for a gallon of gas? For a gallon of milk? For a pound of boneless skinless chicken breasts?"

"What's the average annual income of American families receiving SNAP benefits? How much money do you have to make to be in the top 1% of American wage earners?"

Zero chance he knows the answer to any of these questions, which means he will either not answer or make a guess that's wildly wrong. Either way, a press worth its salt would be reporting on how cosmically ignorant our president is on economic matters.

Istanbul was Constantinople
Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Now it's Turkish delight on a moonlit night

Every gal in Constantinople
Lives in Istanbul, not Constantinople
So if you've a date in Constantinople
She'll be waiting in Istanbul

Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it, I can't say
People just liked it better that way

So take me back to Constantinople
No, you can't go back to Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works?
That's nobody's business but the Turks

“… we are not, we are talking here about transformation, not toothless reform, and we’re seeking it fast. Now some will say that any effort to reform the Pentagon bureaucracy is punishment for perceived slights. We think that’s nonsense. I’m not here to punish, we’re here to liberate. I’m not here to reform but to transform and empower. We mean to save the bureaucracy from itself.

Because the Chairman and I talk about this all the time. This is a 1939 moment. Or hopefully a 1981 moment. A moment of mounting urgency. Enemies gather, threats grow, you feel it. I feel it. If we are going to prevent and avoid war, which is what we all want, we must prepare now.”

“And five, provoke war speed. Or warp speed? By procuring rapidly and sustaining readily as the default not the exception [he really stumbled through reading this, maybe because it is mumbo jumbo]. So, in short, those are broad principles, we mean to increase acquisition risk in order to decrease operational risk. Let me say that again. [he repeats]. By taking greater calculated risk in how we build, buy and maintain our systems, we will gain speed to more quickly provide capabilities to the battlefield. An 85% solution in the brands of our military today is infinitely better than an unachievable 100% solution efforts-effortly-under endlessly undergoing testing or awaiting additional technological development. These are of no use to troops in harms way. “

Who the fuck cares if a few jets crash-as they fly important missions like blowing up little boats

I'm looking forward to the 1945 moment
