GOP plans to replace Obamacare have failed. Here’s what lawmakers propose now.

Lawmakers are racing toward a mid-December deadline, with Republicans hoping to present side-by-side legislation with Democrats’ plan to extend ACA subsidies.

I almost want the extended subsidies to fail. We will never solve the issue by bandaiding it with subsidies. Also, the subsidies are only helping the insurance companies.

People need to fully understand the cost and the problem before they will be willing to accept a solution.

In summary, it's the same old tried-and-true Republican tactic...take a government program that is functioning well enough but isn't perfect but change it in some way that will harm it so that they can then argue against it after it fails because of the changes they force upon it.

Subsidies don't "only help the insurance companies", they also help millions have insurance that is reasonably affordable for them.

I agree that we need a better solution than what we have now, but I can never agree to harming millions of people and hoping their pain will force us to create something better.

Interesting to see Trump turning on more and more Pubs. I’m not sure this will last, but maybe it’s a sign that elected Pubs are starting to treat him as the weak, harmful lame duck he is. In addition to the MTG and Boebert wars, Don Bacon ripped Trump pretty hard on Face the Nation this morning. Would be amazing if this is the tide turning.

They may very well see that you can ride his coattails when he’s on the ballot (which is one of the saddest fucking things in the world), but when he’s not on the ballot, he’s a liability.
