“… “Laying siege to the institutions and taking them back is the big-picture theme,” Lucas told the Daily Caller, a conservative news outlet, this summer. By targeting elite institutions, she said in the interview, “You change the culture.”

Now she has the power to do more. During the government shutdown, the Senate confirmed a Trump nominee, Brittany Panuccio, as an EEOC commissioner. That gives Lucas a quorum—a minimum of three commissioners out of the full slate of five—after Trump fired two Democrats in January. One Democratic commissioner remains.

With the agency’s full powers, Lucas can make good on promises to rescind guidance regarding protections for transgender and nonbinary workers and root out what the Trump administration views as unlawful diversity, equity and inclusion programs.

Most notably, she will be able to sue employers on significant legal questions, potentially setting the stage for new precedents on civil-rights law.…”
These people are awful. So we need to protect Christians? And of course they will very, very broadly interpret anti Christian behavior. Would not surprise me if we get stuff like creationism should be taught at Universities and if they don't comply, they get sued. And on and on.

It's disgusting.

And this is why so many MAGA support Trump so blindly. He gives them voice, and action, for what they want. They want brown people to be discriminated against. They want their narrow world view forced on everyone. They want the game rigged so their view of culture and history becomes the "norm." It is not about truth or accuracy. Obviously. It is also not about affordability (at least not fully). As long as their narrow view is celebrated and Trump forces their cultural dominance on the rest of the country, they will continue to march in step with whatever MAGA says.
They think this will ultimately prove victorious in the long run. By forcing institutions to not just accept their views, but to stridently promote their views, their views, no matter how abhorrent or antithetical to the ideals of American democracy, will become the norm and future generations will fully support those views since they will be indoctrinated to do so.

Christians need to read the Bible and ponder on how long they want to keep sowing the wind. Their numbers have dropped from the mid 90% to the mid 60% in the US in the last 40 years and they might find payback to be hell.

I wasn't sure where to put this, but I am a Graham Platner supporter and I think he has a good chance to defeat the concerned and deeply troubled Susan Collins, but he is up against the the Schumer candidate, the tired 73 yo Maine gov in the Dem primary.

Even though I'm born and bred in NC, I am a monthly contributor and keep up with his campaign. Here is what he sent me this morning...

Workers walking a picket line is what organizing looks like. It’s the kind of organizing we are engaging in on our campaign to defeat Susan Collins. And it’s how working-class people can build power once again against the oligarchs and fascists who have taken over our government.

That’s why I made the long drive and went up yesterday to support the hard-working nurses who are fighting for what they need. Because it is critical to our mission and our movement.

What’s especially remarkable is that this strike isn’t about money. As one of the nurses told me: If this was about money, she would have found a new profession long ago.

These nurses are fighting for their patients. Management is refusing to include ratios in their contract, which protect patients by ensuring that medical staff are not overworked or spread too thin. These brave women and men are fighting to provide safe care to the people who come through their doors. Because you can’t do your job if you’re overwhelmed and you’ve got more patients than you can handle in an effective and safe way.

For these nurses, this is deeply personal too. In a rural community like Houlton, these patients aren’t strangers. They are people they know. They’re their neighbors, their friends, their family.

Despite the hoorah and furor of both sides, the immigrant population that will be voting in the next couple of elections are already here for the most part. It's damned hard to legally get eligible to vote and harder as well as more risky to vote illegally.

Minor error in your post.

Former NJ GOP staffer accused of faking political attack on herself

A former staffer for U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew, R-N.J., is accused of faking a political attack against herself, going so far as to have an artist scar her body and write the words “Trump whore” on her stomach.
...
On July 23, 2025, a woman called 911 and claimed she and Greene had been attacked by three men while they were walking on a trail at a nature preserve in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. The woman claimed the men called Greene out by name and referenced her employment with a federal official, later identified as Republican Congressman Jeff Van Drew, who represents New Jersey’s 2nd congressional district.

When police arrived at the scene, they found Greene on the ground in a wooded area near the trail with her hands and feet bound together with black zip ties. Greene’s shirt was pulled over her head and was also tied with a zip tie, investigators said. Greene also had several lacerations on her face, neck, upper chest, and shoulder, according to officials.

Police also said the words “TRUMP WHORE” were written on her stomach while a message claiming that Van Drew "IS RACIST" was written on her back.

Greene told police that at least one of the men who allegedly attacked her said he had a gun and threatened to shoot her, investigators said. She also claimed at least one of the alleged attackers held her down and restrained her, cutting her and writing on her body.
...
During the investigation, however, officials determined Greene had lied about the attack. Instead, Greene paid a body modification/scarification artist to cut the lacerations on her face, neck, chest and shoulder based on a design that she provided, according to investigators. Police also recovered black zip ties from Greene’s car on the night of the alleged attack which were similar to the zip ties that had been used to bind her arms and feet, officials said.

Investigators also said that two days before the alleged attack, the cellphone of Greene’s co-conspirator had been used to search “zip ties near me.”

They have the Boston cbs station on where I am donating platelets. They are reporting an explosion somewhere in Massachusetts, police found nine other explosive devices in a car near it . I will try to get a link

WTF? Nurses can't get student loans? What the hell?

Is the goa to deliberately destroy health care in this country?
Excluding from GradPlus loan support (exclusion from caps) for graduate/advanced nursing degrees:

““At a time when healthcare in our country faces a historic nurse shortage and rising demands, limiting nurses’ access to funding for graduate education threatens the very foundation of patient care. In many communities across the country, particularly in rural and underserved areas, advanced practice registered nurses ensure access to essential, high-quality care that would otherwise be unavailable. We urge the Department of Education to recognize nursing as the essential profession it is and ensure access to loan programs that make advanced nursing education possible.”

ANA encourages the Department to engage with nursing stakeholders and revise the “professional degree” definition to explicitly include nursing education pathways. Ensuring robust support for nursing education is essential to the future of safe, quality care delivery.”

It would be for nursing graduate degrees. I'm assuming that's the kind of degree one gets to be something like a Nurse Practitioner, not a typical staff nurse.

My hunch is that someone figured out a lot of MAGA don't like having to see a NP rather than a "real doctor" and this is a way of striking out at that.
