So I've been perusing the news/ interviews on the LA protests.

Not surprising but so sad seeing a CNN interview with a DHS Trump official who has framed the narrative as domestic terrorist protesters throwing fire bombs, burning law enforcement vehicles, throwing rocks, and assaulting ICE agents,

and CNN's John Berman just sat there hapless...

so leaving aside the impotence of main stream media, I just wish the protesters engaging in acts of violence would just stop it. Those violent acts accomplish nothing but perpetuating the Trump/ MAGA narrative.

Maybe consider the success of the civil rights non violent protests in the 1960s ? Just a thought...

I was a part of the 1969 march in Washington, DC to protest the Viet Nam War. The protesters numbered around 500,000 and with the exception of a few dozen anarchists trying to disrupt a peaceful protest, it was an effective protest that began to move the needle in opposition to the war.

I just wish that well intentioned folks would pay attention to history and realize that violent provocation does not further the cause😞

Most of them are. Just look at all of the 1/6 insurrectionists who acted so tough and macho that day but who, when they were arrested and tried, cried like babies in the courtroom or to the cops or to the media and begged for leniency and complained about how "unfairly" they were being treated and what "victims" they were. As long as they have the power then they love being bullies and acting tough, but the moment things turn against them they fold like cheap tents and see themselves as the victims and whine about how mean everybody is to them.
Well, these are the same folks who are scared of vaccine needles, so this certainly jibes.

As I predicted/observed, the world has figured out how to deal with Trump: make promises about things you are already doing or can't do at all, and Trump laps it up because he seems to assume that if not for him, we'd all be living in caves.

So Canada got him to pull back the fentanyl tariffs by doing what they were already doing. Mexico actually scaled back its commitment and sold it to Trump as a concession (because he had no idea how much Mexico helps). The EU, in his first term, agreed to buy a bunch of LNG that it had no authority to buy and of course did not buy.

To get what you want from Trump, all you have to do is describe what you're already doing, tell him it's because of his great leadership, and maybe there's a few other things he could do . . .
I think you are being a bit harsh here. What you describe is not materially different from how my parents, my siblings, and I treated my grandparents when they were St. Donald of Mar-a-Lago's age and dementia had begun to tighten its grip on their minds.

Jokes about the erstwhile DNI aside, this meeting sounds like an actual constructive, adult move by the Trump Administration foreign policy team.
We'll see, constructive and adult are not words normally used to describe the trump administration. But it would be a refreshing change.

Bro Trump ready yourself. DC will likely be quiet. The rest of the nation is going to steal your thunder with protests everywhere. Millions in the streets. Your birthday party is going to be a family picnic in comparison. Guess there will be a gaudy pavilion in DC’s Ellipse for your review. Going to be a national embarrassment.

Oh! Don’t forget a fresh Depend®.
