Most of them are. Just look at all of the 1/6 insurrectionists who acted so tough and macho that day but who, when they were arrested and tried, cried like babies in the courtroom or to the cops or to the media and begged for leniency and complained about how "unfairly" they were being treated and what "victims" they were. As long as they have the power then they love being bullies and acting tough, but the moment things turn against them they fold like cheap tents and see themselves as the victims and whine about how mean everybody is to them.

It’s a legitimate concern, but I doubt it’s some nefarious plot, if that’s what you’re thinking. They’re likely just being lazy or cheap.This sounds like a huge issue.

I suspect transportation of undeclared biological material, into and out of the US, happens a lot more often than we would like to think, by both US citizens and trainees/collaborators from abroad. I’ve been surprised at how many scientists don’t realize there are laws regulating the transportation of these materials. Those that are aware are frequently dismissive of the need for such precautions. It should be a requirement for anyone working on federally funded research to complete DOT/IATA training on shipping hazardous material. At least everyone would be aware of the regulations and potential penalties.

Jokes about the erstwhile DNI aside, this meeting sounds like an actual constructive, adult move by the Trump Administration foreign policy team.

Perhaps so, but I'd be willing to bet that Trump had nothing to do with making it either constructive or adult. Everyone else at the meeting probably gave him his cellphone and told him to play on Twitter and Truth Social while they discussed the problem.

No chance. Trump has to be the center of attention. They probably spent 90% of the session answering various versions of “Why don’t we just turn that entire shithole country into glass?” and “Do they have any coastline we could turn into a new Trump resort?”

FYI, Trump is visiting the re-re-named Fort Bragg today. Funny that he is going to a marine base to celebrate the Army's birthday. Reminds me of a dumb dad military joke my dad loved to tell (he served in the Air Force):

Even a fraction of the investments Trump claims being attributable to Trump Admin efforts or at least coincident to his term would be a positive story for Trump, but he wants to claim everything positive and blame everything negative on Biden (like he actually said that out loud not too long ago about the economy), so …

There are pictures of him virtually dozing at some of his earlier cabinet meetings when Elon was talking. He has to get all the attention as long as he's in public, but in private, with no cameras or audience around, I could easily see him foisting the grunt work and boring planning sessions off to somebody else as long as he gets to make the final decision and is the guy who gets to announce everything and get all the glory and publicity, as long as it goes well. If it doesn't then he'll just deny everything and fire the people that screwed up.
Fort Bragg is an army base. Largest in the country, in fact.

What do you get when you cross a Marine with an ape. A retarded ape. My Dad, a retired Marine, always loved that one. Along with the "Seagoing Bell Hops" description. He took them all as an indication of bitter envy and self-doubt.
ETA: Because the USMC was actually created before the USN, my Dad always insisted the USN was an afterthought to provide taxi services for the USMC.

As I predicted/observed, the world has figured out how to deal with Trump: make promises about things you are already doing or can't do at all, and Trump laps it up because he seems to assume that if not for him, we'd all be living in caves.
So Canada got him to pull back the fentanyl tariffs by doing what they were already doing. Mexico actually scaled back its commitment and sold it to Trump as a concession (because he had no idea how much Mexico helps). The EU, in his first term, agreed to buy a bunch of LNG that it had no authority to buy and of course did not buy.
To get what you want from Trump, all you have to do is describe what you're already doing, tell him it's because of his great leadership, and maybe there's a few other things he could do . . .
