The math of this claim is hilariously off. One new Boeing Dreamliner costs a bare minimum of $250 million. So depending on upgrades etc, MAYBE they are buying 30-32 base model Dreamliners?

For $8 billion, you can’t buy 22,787 single engine aircraft of any kind. None. You could buy some experimental build it yourself kits or a fleet of 2-seat light sport aircraft that are propeller planes / not much more than high tech gliders.

The 35,000 jobs claim is also insane unless they are actually ordering 22,787 Dreamliners for $8 Trillion …

I’ll need to go out and purchase 3 bottles of Tylenol now. And one bottle for each of our grand babies and grand nieces/nephews under the age of 5. Can only make them healthier. My wife takes one most nights to help her sleep even though it has no basis in science.

$4 Billion in locomotives and rail equipment is an enormous amount — each locomotive could run between $1 - $8 million, depending on specs, and the rest depends on how specialized the railcars would be. No idea if we have that kind of near term mfg capacity in the U.S. depending on the timing. But as far as helping railroads themselves, that will just strain the mfg resources available to domestic railroads, not help them, since I assume Kazakhstan wants the rail equipment for their use, not to rent to US railroads …

And I would like to know what the transportation costs for deliver of those cars will be. It is doable but not sure how far the nearest port with crane capacity for railcars is from Kazakhstan (which is landlocked). Seems irrational except for certain high tech rail equipment that is hard to get outside the USA. The transportation cost would be insane for basic box cars or flat cars that must be available at a lower cost from a much more reasonable location.

There shouldn’t be a comma after 22, it should have been a space. Presumably, they are purchasing twenty-two 787 Dreamliners.

22,787 Dreamliners would be quite a fleet, but would take a long time to fulfill since Boeing produces less than 100 of them per year.

USDA Puts Food Researchers on Leave

The move follows the agency’s decision to cancel an annual hunger report

🎁 —> https://www.wsj.com/politics/policy...7?st=fee5fB&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink

“…The move comes two days after The Wall Street Journal reported that the Trump administration abruptly canceled the report, which has been produced by the Agriculture Department every year since the mid-1990s.

… Not all of the workers placed on leave were directly involved in the hunger report, but they were all present at meetings last week during which they learned that the hunger survey was being canceled, Dodson said.

… Dodson, a chapter vice president of the American Federation of Government Employees, said the workers were told by managers that they were being placed on leave while “an unauthorized disclosure” was being investigated. Staff were ordered to turn in their laptop computers, she said.

… A subsequent statement by the Agriculture Department called the annual report “liberal fodder” used to justify expanding federal food assistance programs.“

Group Organizing America’s 250th Birthday Fires Executive Director

Bipartisan commission terminated Ariel Abergel after Instagram post related to Charlie Kirk, he says

🎁 —> https://www.wsj.com/politics/policy...4?st=3jL6jS&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink

“The U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, the bipartisan organization overseeing the nation’s 250th birthday celebration, terminated its White House-selected executive director on Monday after the 25-year-old political appointee posted unapproved content to the official Instagram account and clashed with commissioners.

The decision to remove Ariel Abergel, a former Fox News producer, is the latest in a string of shake-ups for the Commission… there has been tension between Abergel and some of the commission members, who believe he overstepped his bounds and was working to make the celebration about Trump, according to people familiar with the commission.

… In a statement, a spokeswoman for America250 said Abergel was terminated “after he initiated a security breach of a commission social-media account, attempted to procure the resignations of multiple commissioners by misrepresenting himself as acting on behalf of Congressional leadership, and engaged in multiple other serious and repeated breaches of authority and trust.”

The spokeswoman said that in recent weeks, Abergel “defied directives from the Commission’s executive committee” and “engaged in unauthorized actions related to Commission approved programming, finances, and communications, jeopardizing the Commission’s operations and reputation.” The decision to terminate the executive director was made by the bipartisan executive committee for the commission, she said.

… Abergel … attributed his firing to pushback against his efforts to honor conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was killed earlier this month. Abergel said he requested that the commission release a statement about the killing and proceeded to post a photo of Kirk on the official Instagram page for America250 without the commission’s permission.

“America is in mourning. God bless Charlie Kirk,” the Instagram post read. He said he was suspended, asked to resign and ultimately fired shortly after making the post….”

What makes you think there is actually a deal, that it is worth anywhere near $4B, or that anyone has committed to it? What company is Kazakhstan's counterparty? Does the US just sell "United States Locomotives and Rail Equipment?"

Hamilton said it wasn’t a surprise that Lewandowski was the messenger, even if Lewandowski, technically an unpaid and temporary special government employee, wasn’t his boss. Lewandowski has long served as Noem’s gatekeeper, described to me by DHS staff as her “handler,” her “bulldog,” and the “shadow secretary.” They are also widely understood by those who work with them to be romantically attached. (Noem and Lewandowski have both denied this.) In April, the Daily Mail snapped photographs of Lewandowski outside her Navy Yard complex with a duffel bag slung over his shoulder, and partly in response to the presence of the Mail’s paparazzi, which a DHS spokesperson said had led to threats and safety concerns, she moved into military housing usually reserved for the top admiral of the Coast Guard, which is under DHS’s purview. This has only fueled the rumors surrounding Noem. “They’ve sent no three- or four-stars in the Coast Guard up for confirmation,” a top administration official told me, “because she doesn’t want to get kicked out of the commandant’s house.”

There are US and Canadian manufacturers of locomotives and rail equipment that do have a healthy business of foreign sales of that equipment (though most of that is to South America — not sure how much is outside the Western Hemisphere). And all of the foreign sales are freight rail equipment and locomotives. We are not competitive in passenger rail equipment.

Also, the rail gauge and other line details outside the Western Hemisphere can vary pretty significantly, so an order for Asian or even European rail probably requires costly updates at the manufacturing facility to allow for those differences.

But it would make more sense if Kazakhstan were ordering from a U.S. company with separate manufacturing facilities in the region … so the jobs wouldn’t be stateside but the profits to the U.S. Company would happen.

The extramarital affair between Noem and Lewandowski has apparently been an open secret among DC Republicans since their affair started when they hooked up at one of those National Conservative Conferences 3 years or so ago. I've read about it in several articles. They travel almost everywhere together, have been seen "making out" like teenagers at some of these conferences, and so on. So Noem has appointed her boy toy as her top aide and gatekeeper, so he handles her dirty work and gets to travel with her everywhere, which makes perfect sense if they're having an affair. Great example of traditional family values and conservative Christianity, those two!
