An annex to a report by the special counsel John H. Durham was the latest in a series of disclosures about the Russia inquiry, as the Trump team seeks to distract from the Jeffrey Epstein files.

So, I've been working really hard recently to make sure I'm not just reflexively opposing everything Trump does. That's not fair, and it puts me in the same category as the people who reflexively defend everything he does. So here's my contribution for today, keying off the current events thread that has been locked.

The White House complex should have a ballroom/large gathering space. Trump is right about that. It's ridiculous we've had to host governmental events in tents. The White House has plenty of land. Adding a very large gathering space befitting our place in this world is well worth it.

I don't even care if taxpayer funds are used to pay for it. We're not a podunk banana republic and we should be able to pay for things that convey an appropriate image to the world.

I really hope Trump doesn't do gold-plated toilets and shit like that, but this is a good thing for the country. And I'll give Trump credit for it if he can get it done.

A pattern is emerging in Texas that local officials are always to blame for catastrophes — see Uvalde school shooting and Walmart massacre for examples. Which may be accurate in no small part because the state doesn’t provide many services outside law enforcement.

Which is essentially the model Trump wants to replace FEMA — eliminate federal service and let each state figure it out. Pass the buck downstream — you are never to blame if you never promise to protect citizens in a natural or man-made disaster.
 
So now Trump orders nuclear submarines to appropriate regions. He's a little pissed at Russia's Medvedev. Comforting knowing Trump doesn't take social media bantering serious.
