“…
The Trump administration ignited the legal battle when it decided in March to abruptly shut down the database, claiming the widely available public data threatened the president’s ability to manage federal spending. Henderson noted that the decision came amid a torrent of lawsuits questioning whether the administration was preparing to illegally “impound” — or withhold — congressionally mandated spending required by law to disburse. The administration claimed the database also forced the disclosure of information meant to be shielded from public view.

U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan rejected that view out of hand last month, in a lawsuit brought by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington and the Protect Democracy group. The Clinton-appointed judge ordered the administration to immediately restore the website. The Justice Department quickly appealed and won a short-term pause of Sullivan’s decision.

But Saturday’s ruling by the appeals court panel ends that pause….”

"I am in danger, friends", Fulbert Mouanodji wrote on his Facebook on Friday - the next day, the civil servant was found dead, burned alive with gasoline.

The body of Mouanodji, who was the former chief of staff for the Ennedi Est Governor, was discovered in Abéché in Eastern Chad on Saturday.

Images of his burned and undressed remains were quickly shared on social media, provoking speculation and anger among Chadians.

At a press conference on Sunday, the Abéché Attorney General ruled out any foul play and said that Mouanodji had killed himself.

"What happened was suicide. He burned himself in full view of people. The investigation that the court opened is not over. We are now at the beginning of the investigation. These people are stirring up this affair. They are lying," the Attorney General said.

However, that explanation has been firmly rejected by Mouanodji’s family and many Chadians online.

The day before he was found dead, Mouanodji wrote on his Facebook profile that he was in danger, and that has made several commentators on X speculate if the high-ranking official was murdered.

Is it too much to ask that the potus have a proofreader.
If St. Donald of Mar-a-Lago had a proof reader, then how would we ever know which posts he personally composed. Also, maybe he does have a proofreader, but English is not this proofreader's first language. I bet if one were to copy and paste those posts into a Russia translater and them re-translate them back into English they would be beautiful.

And meanwhile, in the real world, a report in January earlier this year showed that violent crime in DC is at its lowest level in 30 years. It has also dropped 35% in just the last two years. But since one of Dear Leader's minions nicknamed "Big Balls" got beaten up by a couple of teenagers we've got to send in the troops and basically strip the district of self-governance. When it comes to accepting actual, verifiable data or believing in their myths and "gut feelings", Trumpers will take the latter option every time.

And that last tweet from Kevin Nelson is deeply ironic, given that Trumpers in January 2021 tried to literally "reclaim" the Capitol building by occupying it and killing or taking hostage members of Congress opposed to Dear Leader staying in office. It's always projection with them.

I haven’t checked but it feels like we’ve had an unusually high amount of seismic and volcanic activity in the last year or so. Maybe we just have cameras everywhere now so we see more of it?

Flash floods around the country too, I've read that the number of flash flood warnings is up compared to previous years.
