“… Though its effectiveness for autism treatment has only been researched in small studies, the announcement appeared to send some rushing to buy over-the-counter supplements with the same key ingredient as the drug Trump administration officials touted. Some online shops appeared to sell out of folinic acid supplements.

But medical experts warn against treating supplements the same as leucovorin, which is a medication that has long been prescribed by doctors as an antidote to toxic effects of a certain cancer drug.

… Medical experts said some families have sought out the drug in hopes it might be a treatment, but they warn the evidence does not support its broad use.

The Autism Science Foundation said in a statement that “more studies are necessary before a conclusion can be reached” and that it does not recommend leucovorin as a treatment for autism….”

The proposed pact would treat any attack on Saudi territory as an attack on the United States — similar in structure to Washington’s existing defense arrangement with Qatar.

For fucks sake.

For fucks sake.
What’s sad is it would be great to see more resources dedicated to larger scale study of the potential of leucovorin for some autistic children, but the RFK/Trump desire to skip all that could undermine the health of a lot of kids and eventually support for quality studies. RFK claims to want to “return to gold standard science” but then skips ahead to snake oil salesman behavior.

Oral leucovorin isn’t used much in cancer and pretty often goes on shortage- but when it’s needed, it’s needed- usually after high dose methotrexate therapy for certain types of leukemia. So if there’s a surge in use, it’s definitely going to result in cancer hospitals scrambling to find drug.

An excuse from the story, "which were initially indistinguishable from an ordinary American flag to the naked eye." Rep. Dave Taylor needs to have his eyesight immediately checked to determine whether he suffers from macular degeneration or scotoma, both of which compromise the center of vision, which is exactly where that swastika was. Both can be treated if caught early enough. Rep. Taylor needs to get checked within the next seven days.
