It’s a luxury playground for college aged kids.
I was with a group about a decade ago that attended a workshop at HPU and we were given a tour of the campus. It was one of the oddest and strangest college campuses I have ever visited. Nearly everything looked completely new and scrubbed and polished, they had benches along brick walkways with statues of famous people randomly placed on every one of them - Rosa Parks, Einstein, etc., every building had corporate sponsors prominently displayed, and so on. It looked like a rich man's vision of what a college would look like, which is pretty much what it is, given Nido Qubein's dominance there.

Also, I was struck by how HPU has pretty much taken over much of High Point (there were purple and white "We Love HPU" signs on every other business in town it seemed), and how many old neighborhoods have been taken over by HPU and turned into residential housing. The university has even bought the old mall in town. I'll also say that the "feel" of the campus struck me as odd and different from most college campuses I've seen, the best way I can explain it was that it all felt fake somehow. Which is perhaps unfair, but as I said it looked like someone's idea of a college campus rather than the real thing.

I've been on campus and walked through a couple of buildings, but nothing else.

The description that I heard that I think best fits - and it certainly agrees with your take - is that it is a "college theme park".

Developing a more nuanced set of groups with autism will help everyone get the care and interventions they need, says Dr. Matthew Siegel, chief of clinical enterprise for Boston Children’s Hospital.
I think a nuanced set will be very helpful to parents of young children as they begin to suspect potential issues. Many level 1 kiddos could probably use some early interventions but they do not because "google" or even many professionals are looking for more profound levels of symptom. The set of groups will still have vast differences within each group. "you've met one person with autism, you've met one person with autism".

One question, does this statement above need to be cleared by insurance companies first before we make it fact? If we have firm labels of difference could it result in loss of benefits for some "higher functioning" folks who actually greatly benefit from therapies despite being level 1 instead of level 3, etc? At some point the insurance companies aren't going to want to pay therapy for every person who considers themselves as neurodivergent and Dr's/clinicians have trouble determining or defining the nuanced level, especially at younger ages.

Yeah…….Donald Trump’s reading a book.
Trump's never even read all of his own books ("The Art of the Deal") that he supposedly wrote himself. He hired ghostwriters to pen all of the books put out under his name, and probably has never read a word of any of them. After all, why should you read to learn anything new when you already know everything you need to know?

It's coming.

First they came for the black and brown people
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a black or brown person
Then they came for the LGBTQ community
And I did not speak out
Because I was not in the the LGBTQ community
Then they came for liberal academics
and I did not speak out
Because I was not a liberal academic
Then they came for the Democrats
And I DID speak out
Because I was a Democrat and I shouted," you have gone too far you bastards ! "

And they said, "you're too late ,sucker "

The chemtrails stuff went from an internet joke to mainstream Republican policy in like 2 months. I think Florida and Tennessee have now passed laws banning them, and I’ve seen people (including a physician’s assistant I know) posting pictures of the sky in Florida with captions like “look what happens when you ban cloud seeding and chemtrails!”

If you're a Republican it's either Chemtrails or Epstein.

Awful.

“…On Wednesday evening, Darren and his wife, Cindy, received the heartbreaking news no parent ever wants to hear. Their son, Zachary, his wife, Kelsey, and their two young children, Vada Rose, age 12, and Samuel, age 7, tragically lost their lives in a helicopter accident in Montana.

Their other grandson, Finn, age 10, was not on the helicopter and is safe.

Darren and Cindy are heartbroken by this unimaginable loss. They are finding comfort in their faith, their family, and the prayers of so many who love and care for them. The Baileys deeply appreciate the kindness and support they have received and ask for privacy as they grieve and hold their loved ones close during this difficult time.”

Bailey is a GOP state senator in Illinois running for governor.
