Had one open in town not long ago. Thought I would try it out. Then I saw it's $13 for just two tenders and fries. That doesn't include a drink. Nope, that's ridiculous.

Lots of restaurants have priced me out these days, especially for lunch. I ain't spending over $10 on lunch unless it's lunch with a friend or something. But apparently people do. Ate Bo today for $6.65. Often eat McDonalds and get out for $5 ordering in the app. I'm not very healthy.

Other than the big chain fast food restaurants, which I don’t eat at unless I’m on the road, I find it impossible to find a restaurant lunch for less than $10 these days. In fact, It’s extremely difficult to find a restaurant lunch for less than $15 these days.

I mean you're right, especially if a tip is involved. It's pretty much impossible. I was willing to drop $12 pretty much every day but when it went over that I was like it's just too much, it adds up. So now I'm on a rotation of Bo, McDonalds, Zaxby's. I'm fat but I can split Chipotle bowls with my wife for a pretty good value. I have no idea who eats a whole one of those things. And I prolly eat leftovers or make a sandwich at home 3 days a week. And I faithfully take 80mg Pravastatin daily. I will drop some money at dinner with the fam one or two nights a week, but I hate spending a lot at lunch.

I recently saw that they're expecting Dave's Hot Chicken to have tremendous expansion this year. We had one open in Wilmington a few years ago. Has anyone ever tried it? I do enjoy Nashville hot chicken, but I've yet to try theirs.

Yea it's hard to eat for under $10 now.

The area where I work is very affluent. Even the taco bell is more. I spent $13 the last time I ate there.

I mostly bring my lunch.

Lunch is expensive everywhere even on base where it's supposed to be cheaper for the soldiers

My job required me to return to office 3 days/week starting in 2025. Office located in downtown Raleigh so I've tried several places over the past 4 months. There's a pizza spot where you can get a big slice of pepperoni, a can of soda and tip and get out under $10. Benny's Pizza. Its about the only option that's less than $10. Might as well expect to spend $15 otherwise.

Never heard of them.

But in a market saturated with chicken restaurants do we really need more?

There are so many near me and they are all the same basic thing.

Zaxbys, chicken fil a, Guthrie's, Churches, Popeyes, Bojangles (at least they are more unique), etc.

I believe that a Raising Cane's is opening soon near me.

In Charlotte, your best bet for a cheap lunch is at one of the hole-in-the-wall ethnic joints located in either the northeast part of town or southwest part of town. But those prices are going up as well. There’s a hole-in-the-wall banh mi joint that used to be in my lunch rotation. These are the prices back in 2017:

I'm lucky that my company has a cafeteria. When I don't bring my lunch I can eat there for under $10.

Is sad that $10 sounds like we're being cheap, but that adds up.

Considering the income number's in the US, I wonder what percentage of people's income goes to feeding their families.

Luckily I don't have to go in the office very much but when I do I usually go eat lunch at Morgan Street Food Hall

Thankfully my office is close to my home, and it’s an old house, so I don’t have to deal with a parking garage, which makes it easy for me to go home for lunch.
