I used it today when I said something to the effect of a baby born as an illegal with regards to ending birthright citizenship. If anyone took that to mean I was calling them that then I am sorry. My intent was the use language that they use to make a point of the absurdity in ending birthright citizenship while also labeling anyone here who is not a legal resident as an "illegal."Multiple times in the last weeks I have seen "the illegal" or "illegals" as a casual reference to humans. It's bullshit. Ban the fuckers already.
There are plenty of ways to discuss humans without some intentionally degrading sophomoric hogwash.
That's one of the primary reasons I hate it in discourse. The point of those using it intentionally is to normalize it and somehow make it OK. I grew up thinking n*gger was perfectly appropriate because it was casually used around me all the time. The more we use slurs in society, the more accepted they become even by those who mean no offense in using them. I detest the use of illegal alien but at least it has a definition that's plausible. When someone reduces a human being to just being "illegal" period, I can't abide that.I used it today when I said something to the effect of a baby born as an illegal with regards to ending birthright citizenship. I doubt that that was what prompted this but just in case I wanted to make it clear my intent was to defend undocumented immigrants.
Never heard it. I don't even know what it means to be honest.Do you have a problem using the term “spreadnecks” to describe Covid deniers?
This board shouldn’t be the ZZL round 2. Bans should be for absolutely egregious behavior, and should be incredible rare. The ignore feature exists for a reason.
I think it is self-evident. Rednecks who spread Covid because they don't believe in science.Never heard it. I don't even know what it means to be honest.
Fuck you.All of the insults that are directed at actual posters, like me, and you want to ban people who say things about people who aren't even here to read it?![]()
Ouch. We all heard that one. But Zen brings it on himself. I’m not sure folks who made it to these shores seeking asylum or a better way of life for them and theirs should be dehumanized with pejoratives.Fuck you.
I mean, but, I used it for a specific purpose to point out the inhumanity of its use. I couldn't make that point without using the word. That's one of the primary reasons I hate it in discourse. Im not complaining about your use. Sorry if it seemed that way. I'm saying that you had to use it in that manner to point it out...all because if was being used in the first place.I mean, but, I used it for a specific purpose to point out the inhumanity of its use. Would quotes around the word help?
Luckily, I must have Super Ignored the trolly miscreant long ago, as I've not recently read any of the verbiage mentioned in the OP.luckily its not an epidemic. seems like we've just got the one moron, possibly the worst regular poster on the board, doing it.
Same with me. I haven't seen it used. Love the Super Ignore.Luckily, I must have Super Ignored the trolly miscreant long ago, as I've not recently read any of the verbiage mentioned in the OP.
you've obviously never had the misfortune to read a Riverheel postban this ignore that.....what a bunch of emotional fragility
I always counted on riverheel to keep me updated on the latest racist, homophobic, and misogynist rantings from the right wing fever swamp like Stormfront and 8Chan, Gateway Pundit, Townhall, Daily Caller...you've obviously never had the misfortune to read a Riverheel post
Kind of like you can commit a felony, or your actions can be felonious, but you can't be a felon.
its definitely dumb and purposefully dehumanizing.
people are not "illegal" - their actions can be.
illegally entering the U.S. (8 U.S.C. § 1325) is a misdemeanor, while illegally re-entering after deportation (8 U.S.C. § 1326) is a felony.Kind of like you can commit a felony, or your actions can be felonious, but you can't be a felon.
that's not what he's getting at.illegally entering the U.S. (8 U.S.C. § 1325) is a misdemeanor, while illegally re-entering after deportation (8 U.S.C. § 1326) is a felony.
So they're aren't felons (unless they are deported and re-enter the US).
