I don't understand how you are sure he is distracted vs just dealing with a really shitty winter portal haul (partly cuz he cleaned house late in the year), then having to rely on a spring portal haul (weak by nature) and bad decision regarding OC (yes men hires aren't a new thing for BB). Would 2008 BB magically have gotten himself hired an extra few weeks early and managed the transition of recruiting staff differently and not hired a yes-man OC?

Why did he hire Mike Lombardi?

NO ONE was offering that guy a job.

Today, he’s UNC Football’s GM.

Scott Frost got hired at essentially the same time as Belichick and has essentially the same number of brand new players on his roster as we do, and was picked to finish next to DFL in the Big 12, and somehow just drug our team up and down the field like rag dolls. Belichick doesn’t get any slack for not being able to assemble a roster when Scott freaking Frost did it.

I think the Hudson stuff is overall small part of what Bill’s problem is these days. I think arrogance, hubris, ignorance of the college game, ego, and an insatiable need to surround himself in a safe space with his son’s, his friends, and his friends sons instead of people who will push back on him, are all much, much bigger reasons why we suck.

Cuz he's the closest thing to what Nick Saban and Jeff Fisch recommended? I don't know. Would 2008 (or pre-Jordon) have done something differently?

I'm fine with the notions of arrogance, hubris, nepotism etc, being a problem but what makes you think those would be different pre-Jordon or if she wasn't in his life? Or 2008?

It sucks our that our big financial commitment to fb comes with an incredibly expensive gamble on someone high-profile with a "my way" gutting/rebuilding project, but I think it was way to early to call him mindfucked, or to be so sure his gf is the reason why we're slow, our 3rd str center couldn't snap initially, and why our talent is lacking and our OC sucking. BB screwed the winter portal (relative to a Scott Frost type of haul), and that's all on him.

I dont think Jordon is "the reason". I think she is a very obvious symptom of a much larger problem...that Belichick is not focused on what makes UNC a better football program and is instead focused on whatever gives him the softest landing into his twilight.

I’ve said multiple times now that I do think that Hudson is, in the grand scheme of things, a small reason why Bill currently sucks. I don’t think she has kept us from scoring points, caused us to miss tackles, throw interceptions, screwed up clock management, etc. I do think, as I said earlier, that she’s a symptom and not the disease.

I think I’ve said all I care to say about it now. I don’t think we are going to change one another’s opinion on this and that is totally okay.
 
we are beyond really bad. ohio st would beat us 100-0. bb is fortunate that our schedule is one of the worst in the country...but we still only winning two games.
