I can't say that I'm against ending term limits on the presidency. I would have loved to see Clinton and Obama both run again and there were a couple of times that I wish the 'pubs had to run on their record. Think of how much blame they shifted to W and lifted from themselves just by being able to run someone different instead of running on his record or refusing to nominate him again.

That said, how low can you go? Something put in place because of FDR, the president that may have helped the biggest percentage of the electorate ever is lifted for the worst? I wish I was surprised.

Can somebody post the quote please? For some reason I can't access Hindustan Times on my current network.

He has no plans to run for a third term. He's planning on just taking it.
I really don't think this is true. I know I won't be able to convince you otherwise, and it's not like I have any evidence to the contrary, but I really don't think Trump has any interest in seizing and holding power as an unelected dictator. He absolutely has authoritarian instincts and wants to be in charge of everything - and if he thought there was a genuine argument for him to remain president he would pounce on it - but he craves respect and adulation too much to make himself into everything liberals say he could be (Hitler 2.0) by literally seizing power. And contrary to things like birthright citizenship - where Trump has foaming-at-the-mouth ideologues like James Ho out there laying the groundwork for how denying it to the children of illegal immigrants could somehow be consistent with the constitution - I have not yet seen or heard of anyone in conservative legal circles trying to make the case that they can get around the combination of the 22nd amendment and Article II, Section 1, Clause 1 to have Trump remain in power, as president, beyond his 4-year term. The only thing I could possibly think of is having some compliant MAGA tool run for President with Trump as his VP nominee, given there's nothing I can see that would prevent Trump being elected VP after being President. Then Trump could either basically run the show as "VP" or have the tool step down so he would become president again. But that wouldn't be seizing power unilaterally, that would require winning another election.

Obama would not necessarily win. That's not an election contest I relish AT ALL.
I don't relish that happening because it would mean some seriously dire shit for the rule of law is going on, but in a hypothetical world where Trump ran against Obama in a fair election, Obama would absolutely crush him.

“Natural causes, if you’re listening…”

But yeah, IMO that fucker won’t be alive in 2 years, much less four.
He isn’t capable of feeling the stresses of the office the way other presidents typically do. Partly due to his personality disorders and partly due to his not caring about the wellbeing of the country and our allies.

That, coupled with the medical care available to him, means he’ll probably live to 90+. Diminished, sure. But not dead.

damnit

Nah, I can't see it happening. I think 2 terms is plenty for anyone. In fact, I'd be find making it one 6 year term for the presidency.

Trump on how he handles stress:

“I try and tell myself it doesn’t matter,” Trump replied. “Nothing matters. If you tell yourself it doesn’t matter — like you do shows, you do this, you do that, and then you have earthquakes in India where 400,000 people get killed. Honestly, it doesn’t matter.”

Saw this quote recently and have been having a stressful time at work… crosses my mind more than I’d like to admit.

trump is 78. it isn't a complete stretch to say he might not live through this term. A fall / broken hip / etc. can take someone that age out in a matter of months, as can numerous other things.
