I have to laugh.
We did alright in Wiltson (sic) in the 70's and 80's too...I have to laugh.
In the late ‘70’s, Chapel Hill High School, Durham Academy, and Jordan High School students had raging parties - many in/near Bahama (several hosted by a student with the last name of Hill - think UNC royalty). We also had raging parties in western parts of Durham County and Hope Valley and Orange County.
Some of these were incredibly well-organized: (1) pastures to park cars; $3/car; (2) pop your trunk to make sure no one was sneaking in; (3) $X a cup; lose your cup, buy a new one; even if you didn’t drink, you had to buy a cup; 4) $X to “access” a bong
It was Chapel Hill and the well-off parts of Durham. Parents were ALWAYS out of town. Rotating parties.
Lots of empty land north of Chapel Hill and South of I-85 back in the ‘70’s.
What the kids didn’t know is that the parents were gone to swinger parties.I have to laugh.

Well Nan spent her entire damn time as president trying to make it more stoic and kill parties as much as possible. At least they are trying to make it more accessible to party on campus again. Glad I went in the 90s.They're partying in Orange County, too.
what gives you the idea it was an HBCU party?
It seems this may have been a HBCU party...which throws some racial tensions into the mix because NOW they press charges (if accurate)?
