Nobody but a biden homer would believe that sorry piece of legislation would have made the border more secure then than now. Now mexico has put 10,000 troops on the border, canada has beefed up border security, we have the military helping border patrol and what is the result? no caravans on the way and illegal border crossings down 90%. At least discuss in good faith.
LOL, Mexico had 15K troops last year. Trump is such a fucking idiot that he negotiated Mexico's commitment down because he thought they had zero.

And please spare us your bullshit about the border security bill. You've proven time and again that you have no understanding of a) law; b) the border; c) that bill; d) efficiency; e) I'll just stop now out of politeness.

Pure an utter bullshit. We haven’t lost any of those countries as allies and it might be the most absurd statement ever uttered on the new ZZL.
Everything you say resets the record for the most absurd statement ever uttered here.

We are indeed losing allies and the goodwill of the world. It will.not be very long at all before Americans will be absolutely unwelcome in most any Western European nation.

Way more objective on trump than you are. My history proves it. The fact that you can't acknowledge trump wins when there is clear evidence highlights your inability to be remotely objective. Already lots of reality with more to come. Gonna be a long 4 years for people melting down after 19 days.

Downsizing the g'ment is what I and a majority of voters voted for. Is that news to you? Were you not paying attention? To busy trying to decipher kamala's word salads? Emotionally to fragile to understand a MAJORITY of Americans said they no longer want to be the world's culture war charity, or follow the path the left charted to a failed public education system, or have open borders. That your political priorities and agenda was discarded is tough to swallow but don't act like a petulant child.
Nobody who supports the people who perpetrated J6 can call anyone a petulant child.

All your history proves is that you've melted down into a puddle of the same fetid hypocrisy that you spent months crusading against.

😂 You believe there were “caravans?” The “caravans” were a figment of Fox News’ imagination. It’s amazing how they “appeared” every time things were going poorly for Republicans. And you slurped that shit right up! LOL.

Boo!

You are so fucking stupid.

I don't have any agenda other than making sure you suffer. All else is irrelevant

Layoffs hit contractors and small businesses as Trump cuts take effect

Health centers, after-school programs and independent-living facilities are among those announcing hiring freezes, furloughs and layoffs.

"Private-sector employers and nonprofits are starting to lay off workers as a result of the Trump administration’s sweeping cuts and funding freezes, unleashing a wave of job losses that economists say could pick up steam in the coming weeks, threatening the broader labor market.

The tally appears to be about several thousand private-sector jobs lost in the past two weeks since federal funding cuts and freezes took hold. More than 7.5 million Americans work in jobs directly connected to the federal government, according to the Brookings Institution, as contractors or grant workers — some of whom are already out of a job. And there are millions more who work in positions indirectly connected to federal funding delays.

So far, the fallout includes rescinded contracting jobs in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Austin; layoffs at an independent-living facility in West Virginia that relies on federal funding to pay staffers; and furloughs at after-school programs in Maine and community health centers in Virginia facing federal funding delays. ..."

"...Still, the labor market remains strong, and economists say it could take weeks or months before government-related job losses show up in national data. At 4. 1 percent, unemployment is low, and there are more open positions than people looking for work.

New figures Friday are expected to show that job growth continued in January, with employers adding an estimated 165,000 new positions. [NOTE -- actually, it was below that, but unemployment rate dropped to 4.0%]

Even so, economists say the new president’s funding cuts, tariff threats and deportations could quickly change the economic picture. The Trump administration has taken dramatic steps to shrink the federal workforce by making it easier to fire employees, putting nearly 10,000 USAID employees on leave and offering buyouts to millions of federal workers. ..."

When unemployment does climb to 6 or 7%, Trump supporters will celebrate it as proof of getting rid of dead federal weight and waste. It won't change their outlook in the slightest.

Probably true, but from the WaPo article, the collateral impact on private employment could really impact everyone (which I know you know, just noting for the record):

"...The D.C. region, which relies on the federal government for 40 percent of its economy, is likely to face the biggest hit from government-related job losses.

But the rest of the country isn’t immune: Every five federal government jobs that are lost typically wipe away an additional two jobs nationwide, according to Terry Clower, director of the Center for Regional Analysis at George Mason University.

“There are real spillover effects here,” he said. “If a scientist working at a university lab loses their funding, they’ve lost their job, they’ve lost their household spending, and that affects other jobs across the economy.” ..."

As someone in a more value added role within the healthcare system, several colleagues and I have started conversations re: the process of going private vs. emigrating vs. changing field vs. wish casting. Our roles have been shown time and again to substantially impact patient outcomes and hospital burden, but we're not essential from a cynically pragmatic view of healthcare, and particularly from a grifty fascist POV.

While it likely takes a handful of months, gutting federal grants and the predictable attacks on medicaid, medicare, and likely the VA will brutalize the bottom lines of most healthcare systems. While a number of systems, by way of reputation and/or wealthy communities and/or private equity machinations, have reasonably recovered, most healthcare systems haven't regained their pre-2020 financial standing. Valued added will likely start disappearing with further financial squeezes, and as that occurs, the demand, stress, and burnout of essential staffers rises (e.g. nurses, hospitalists, infectious disease control, sanitation services, nutrition services, case managers, etc.), not to mention the increasing difficulty to find people willing and capable to do the work.

Most folks don't understand the knife's edge upon which many healthcare systems continue to dance, and that's with federal funds not used to extort and capriciously punish. The hospitals in heavily maga communities are most at risk, as their percentage of revenue from CMS tends to substantially exceed the larger, urban systems.

“…
Consumer sentiment fell about 5% in the University of Michigan’s preliminary February survey of consumers to its lowest reading since July 2024. Expectations of inflation in the year ahead jumped from 3.3% in January to 4.3%, the second month in a row of large increases and highest reading since November 2023.

“It’s very rare to see a full percentage point jump in inflation expectations,” said Joanne Hsu, who oversees the survey. Republicans have come off a postelection surge in confidence, she said, and Democrats and Independents also seem to believe that economic conditions have deteriorated since last month.

Morning Consult’s recent index of consumer confidence, too, fell between Jan. 25 and Feb. 3, driven primarily by concern over the country’s economic future.

“I don’t like the turbulence. I don’t like the chaos in the market,” said Paul Bisson, a 58-year-old, who writes proposals for a flight safety company and co-owns a dog daycare in San Antonio. Bisson voted for Trump, but feels “his policies have led to that chaos.” …”

Alaska will get destroyed with massive federal job cuts.

Fire as many federal employees as Elon Musk and Project 2025 want to fire and you’re looking at an economic DEPRESSION and China’s ascension - even when it should be cratering from its “one child, one son” policy.
