"The University of Michigan’s gauge of consumer sentiment fell to 67.8 in a preliminary February reading from 71.1 in the prior month. That’s the lowest reading since July.

Economists polled by the Wall Street Journal had expected sentiment to rise to a reading of 74 in February.

The decline in sentiment was widespread with Republicans, Independents and Democrats all posting lower readings.

Another key part of the report is the UMich measure of inflation expectations.

According to the report, Americans’ expectations for overall inflation over the next year jumped to 4.3% in February from 3.3% in the prior month. That’s highest since November 2023 and only the fifth time in 14 years there was such a large one-month gain. ..."

I think HY is waiting to see how the reconciliation tax bill plays out before conceding anything. Also, HY likes all the anti woke EOs, so he is happy about that. Can’t speak to Calla because he’s been on ignore for a long time.

Because Trump was elected, more than on any other single thing, on the perception, which Trump propagated endlessly, that Biden caused inflation and Trump would make prices cheaper. And now, not even three weeks in, we already see (1) prices rising, and (2) Trump himself essentially admitting that Biden did not cause inflation. So call it getting played. Call it being a gullible dumbass. Call it whatever you want. But don't feel bad -- tens of millions of other Americans are in the same boat.

Do you think I voted for trump because I thought he would bring down the cost of eggs on day 1, or day 30, or day 100? Overall, from a macro level, I'm quite happy with most of what has transpired so far. Not necessarily with the method, but the ideology. I voted for border security. I'm getting it. I voted for strengthening the military. I'm getting it. I voted to purge dei from the g'ment and as much of society as possible. I'm getting it. I voted for reducing the size of the fed g'ment. It's under way. I voted for a stronger foreign policy. I'm getting it. Not pleased with everything but overall I'm quite happy.

I can't imagine how you can possibly type this in good faith. Half the rest of the world is furious at us right now. The other half is laughing its ass off. Neither is even remotely indicative of strength.

And while we're at it, don't gaslight us on not voting for Trump because of inflation and the economy. You posted on here a TON before the election. We all saw it. And MUCH of what you wrote was complaining about prices at the grocery store.

Did you vote for intelligent reduction of the fed government, or the "let's make all our best people quit for no reason and with no plan" approach Musk used to destroy twitter? It's worth remembering that when twitter features broke, Musk didn't fix them -- he just let the functionality die. Is that what you want? Things to break and then not get fixed because Elon is Stupid Joker?

Also, what do you have to say about the plan to completely replace our ATC system? Keep in mind that SpaceX has lost many rockets, and also Tesla has one of the worst product quality records in the industry. Is Elon and his incel teenaged losers really the person you want doing this?

1. Inflation was a huge issue for most trump voters. trump said he would bring down prices on day 1. You knew he was lying and you were good with that. Many of his voters trusted him and have been betrayed.

2. How is the military stronger with Hesgeth than with Austin, Milley, and Fagan?

3. How is foreign policy stronger without your allies? That's like saying your house is better protected because you pissed off everyone in your neighborhood watch.

4. The border is less secure today than it would have been if trump didn't kill the strongest bipartisan immigration reform in decades.

5. Be careful what you wish for...
