I'm pretty sure all our Pub posters have just blocked this thread, but this is what I can't get over.

Before 11/5/2024, the BLS's consistent pattern of revising employment numbers downward was a conspiracy to help the sitting president and hurt Trump.

After 11/5/2024, the BLS's consistent pattern of revising employment numbers downward is a conspiracy to HURT the sitting president and help the Dems. And thus worthy of breaking all norms and threatening global confidence in the US economy by firing the person who is responsible for reporting the numbers reported by US employers.

I'd love to hear a defense of this. I haven't so far, and I doubt we will, but maybe this will help someone who lurks or posts here understand why the immutable laws of mathematics and logic make Trump and MAGA impossible to take seriously.

In sympathy with the Canadians, if Mexico elected as President the head of one of their drug cartels, I would give serious thought to taking Cozumel off my vacation wish list.

You're probably right. I just don't understand why none of them feel enough pride (or shame?) to try to defend it. If you're still a Pub, you must think this is ok. And if you don't, you have a duty to speak out about it.

It's things like this that drove me away from the GOP years ago, and I know that's true of many people who post here. At some point, you either decide your integrity requires you to stand up against the hypocrisy, or you just jettison your integrity completely. I'm still holding out hope some sufficient percentage of Pubs will decide their integrity is important. The future of this incredible nation depends on it. But idiotically hypocritical things like this are the lowest of the low-hanging fruit, and if they can't find the balls to speak out on these things, I can't imagine where the line actually exists.
 
The problem is simple..."we" put a dung beetle in the White House. And his ball of BS is growing everyday as result of his self emboldenment. He believes his lies.

Seriously, it’s incredible to me how the GOP has become so disconnected from economic reality. We were in great shape in the latter half of 2024, but they were truly convinced the economy was a disaster. Now, all the objective indicators are pointing to major problems ahead, most of them directly caused by Trump’s policies, and they are just as convinced the economy is great.

I know it’s said all the time here, but it’s really hard to imagine how we move forward as a country when half of us are trapped in the Upside Down.

I’m rooting for the markets to tank. I went all cash last week and decided to take August off. Will get back in when the tariff craziness is a little more settled.

I know the Dow Jones Industrial Average is not the only measuring stick for how well/bad the economy is doing, but it closed today at 44174. It was 43528 on January 21. That’s an increase of 646 points and 1.5% for the first 6 1/2 months of Trump 2.0. Not very good.

I'm not rooting for the markets to tank to hurt Trump. I'm rooting for the markets to tank because I am in cash and it is in my strong financial advantage for the markets to be at a lower price point when I get back in.

Yes, it's like betting the don't pass line in craps. You are rooting against the whole table or the whole table is rooting against you.

But until the tariffs are a little more finalized, I am staying in cash. I'll let the rest of you deal with Trump's craziness for the time being.

Don’t hold your breath. If they haven’t already, they likely never will. The runway for the “let’s just give it a chancers” ran out on J6, and it was blown to smithereens when Trump pardoned all the violent J6ers. Anyone who didn’t cross the line back to reality and human decency back then are simply never gonna come back. They’re gone. Swallowed by the cult. The future of this incredible nation rests on ending this God forsaken cult once and for all. Tragically, time doesn’t seem to be on our side.

That's where I am. I missed the Taco Bump. I'm hoping to catch the next ride with our retirement portfolio, which is mostly in cash. I missed a Friday entry to catch today's wave...I think depite Trump's day to day insanity, he'll TACO before the Aug 7 activation of the tariffs.
