Let me start by saying that I’m completely ignorant to this topic. I’ve never done a drug and have no intention of doing drugs. No hate or shame. If that’s your deal, more power to you… it’s just not for me.

However… I’ve seen people on social media and in here talk about popping an edible to calm them down or to ease anxiety or even to help them sleep. This is something I’m interested in.

For a beginner… where should I start? There are about a million different products out there… how would someone like me know what to buy and how much to consume?

Since you are in NC, you can get a low dose of Delta 8 either in gummy or tincture form. Go with about 15-25 mg (delta 8 tincture!! not a gummy) and you will get a buzz and then it will really sedate you

Try seeing a psychiatrist. The best edibles remain the ones you get from your pharmacy.

Not quite so sure about this. Hard to match the safety record of unadulterated THC vs. almost any pharmaceutical product. What trials that have been permitted have indicated that it was effective as a sedative but, of course, direct comparisons are unavailable.

Not in NC
I don't mean cannabis edibles. I mean Xanax or ambien.

I am firmly of the belief that cannabis should be for recreational purposes only. Maybe there are a few applications for palliative care, but if you want to take something to help you sleep, get a pharmaceutical. Party with weed; sleep with a tranq.

Those things are addictive as hell.

5mg (half an edible) until you see how it affects you. For fun, take 10 mg before you plan to try to go to sleep, that way you can lay in bed and feel it start to work and feel like you're sinking into your bed.

For a challenge, especially if you have stairs in your house, take 10mg and stay downstairs, wait for it to kick in, then try to climb the stairs.

For real dude? You think an ambien is better for you than an edible??

BTW, I prefer the drink versions. My husband is the expert and gets them for me — look like beer cans but basically liquid edibles. I get the lowest dose ones and even then can sip slowly. One of those is more than enough for me. I found it too easy to consume the gummy candy edibles too fast before figuring out the effect. I swear, I think my husband can eat half a jar of those things but I am super sensitive to it for whatever reason. The right dose is super relaxing and pleasant but too much really messes with me — almost a psychedelic reaction and I don’t want any part of that.

I spent much of the '90s on "smokeables", since then have only done it a few times a year when around certain people.

A few months ago, I bought some 3mg D9 gummies for the first time. One makes me slightly relaxed, two give me a mild buzz, 3 get me pretty high. If I'm going to an event like a concert, I will do about one per hour.

To make this germane to the OP's situation, I have a friend the same age as me who until recently had never done any kind of THC product before. One of the 3 MG ones seems to do the trick for him. He did two once and said that was a bit much for him.

EDIT: took too long typing, was really hoping my reference to the '90s would immediately follow LPH's post.
