it really wasnt that long ago that the age of consent was 7-10 yrs old in most states.

history of the us has a lot more to be ashamed of than proud of....yes your family tree wwas part of the many atrocities i assure you. you can run from them and act holier than thou or accept them.

The only people fucking 7-10 year olds in 1920s America were pedos. Fucking disgusting.
In re: this used to be normal. Marrying 2nd and beyond cousins, yes. Marrying off girls as soon as they start menstruating, no. I have an interest in geneology. In my own family the frequency of older women marrying younger men is more prevelent than it is today. In particular, in the aftermath of the Civil War, when there was a deficit of men of marrying age, the wife being older was a norm. Almost as if there was a societial agreement that because men in these women's age group had been so thinned by the Civil War, these older women got first choice from the next generation of men. Going back to pre-Revolutionary times, my own personal family history--as documented by census records, gravestones, family Bibles, and the occasional marriage documents--does not reflect a societal normalization of pedophilia.

Contrary to what Trumpers would have us believe, pedophilia is NOT a long established and oft-practiced American marriage custom. In my own opinion, those who go on and on about the "good old days" when a man could deflower a teenager on the first night of marriage speaks much louder of those people's current fantasies than it does of any historical reality. Yes, May-December marriage did occur and yes, pedophilia is not exclusivley a phenomenon of the 21st Century. But pedophilia was not the norm in the 19th Century.

Pedophilia among American men today speaks much more to those men's sexual inadequacy than it does to any revival of an alleged common practice from the days of yore. In addition, based on my own experiences, someone bragging about his male ancestors marrying young teenagers speaks more to the speaker's own romantic failures than it it does to his actual geneology.

Wonder how many of those were second wives with the first wife lost in child birth. I expect it was a statistically relevant number.

Delaware set an age of consent at age 7 some time in the 19th century, but repealed it after a few years because people realized just how gross it was.

Has anyone noticed that og is keenly aware of age of consent laws? It's the only subject on which he contributes anything other than "both parties suck you sheeple." Literally the only content I have ever seen him add is an encyclopedic knowledge of the legality of sex with young girls.

Yep. And when she says that Dear Leader isn't on the list his base will buy it hook, line, and sinker and feel totally vindicated. I would even expect some trash-talking from the usual suspects on this board - which will only confirm their full-fledged membership in the Cult of Trump, and their gullibility in buying everything that Trump and right-wing media say.
What is truly terrifying is that she has all the incentive to lie and accuse people like Obama who having nothing at all to do with Epstein. Trump is so petty and he would metaphorically ejaculate all over himself if she said something like that. A pardon would be guaranteed and it would probably be a universal pardon that included a time period that would cover perjury. (My guess is that these interviews were simply to negotiate terms of a pardon.)

Then Maxwell could leave the country to somewhere where she could not be compelled to testify once Trump left office.

I risk is that they did something like that which would be so absurd that it can’t be believed by anyone other than people like callatroy.

I recognize that I sound conspiratorial but something like that will either happen or not. I am not claiming it has happened and it is easily falsifiable - even something like that doesn’t happen then my concern will be alleviated.

Maybe your tree. I assure you if a pedophile had touched one of my sisters that bastard would have been or wished he was dead. And my dad grew up as a Pee Dee River swamper. What was left my mom would have finished off. Considering they would now be more than 130 years old, I think “7-10” is BS.

Azealia Banks grew up with a completely different cultural/moral baseline than I did. It was normal for grown ass men to be fucking 14 year old girls into the 1990’s? Nah. This bitch grew up in the nastiest trailer park in Chadbourn.
I graduated high school in 1989. From my sophomore year to my senior year there was a cute girl who was three years younger than me who had a crush on me. (My school was k-12 and 7-12 shared the same hallways, cafeteria times, etc.)

She was obviously too young when in 7th grade and I never dated her.

Anyway fast forward a few years and I briefly dated her when she was a 17 year old senior and I was a junior in college. It was sort of long distance. This would have been 1991/2. I was keenly aware that I had to be very careful because she was 17. I refused any efforts she made to go further than kissing. (I was still a virgin so you can imagine how hard that was.)

The point being, anyone who claims that having sex with minors was not frowned upon and prosecuted in the 1990’s is an idiot. Every guy knew they had to be careful. Every guy knew of cases where adults were charged with statutory rape.

Now all that said, I wasn’t aware that the age of consent isn’t always 18 nor was I aware of the laws that protected people who were close to the same age.

Ironically we broke up because she wrote a letter to me asking why I wouldn’t do certain things. He grandparents found the letter and basically said we couldn’t see each other anymore. I mean, f’ me. Haha. (I did find out later that they had a lot of respect for me over it and I wasn’t who they were upset with.)

My first was when I was 18 and she was 17 back in 1993, and I did not think about it at all.
