Remember back in 2016 when Bill Clinton and AG Loretta Lynch crossed paths on a tarmac while waiting for their separate planes to take off at a Phoenix airport and the media went wild when they had a brief impromptu visit. They chased that shiny object for months ?

good times ...

As it concerns this planned meeting among the VP, the AG and her deputy, and the Director of the FBI to discuss strategy for protecting the president ? no biggie

Hell, they're BRAGGING about it.

What high-level strategy is needed to simply release the files that the administration promised to release?!

The goal seems to be to convince MAGA and other Americans to accept Maxwell’s interview in lieu of releasing the Epstein Files (followed by a James Comer show hearing focusing on Dems and out of favor Republicans).

So the strategy is how to sell that. I assume they are studying Bill Barr’s presser preceding release of the Mueller Report as the gold standard for redirection.

Yep. And based on the lies about the Mueller Report we STILL hear incessantly today, not just from hardcore MAGAs but even from bosiders like Zen, whatever they decide to do is virtually certain to change reality forever for tens of millions of America.

Yeah, that makes sense, though I can't see how it requires some high-level strategic meeting of the minds to come up with the "let Fox News and the right wing media griftosphere do its thing and have 100% of Republicans believing every word of it by sundown" strategy. It was obvious what the end result was going to be and that the fix was in the moment that a convicted child rapist like Maxwell was moved from prison to a luxury resort immediately after meeting with the DOJ. They'll have zero trouble convincing the base.

As much as it sucks to have a president who participated, peripherally at best and directly at worst, in awful crimes against children- and with all due sympathy to the young people who were victimized- it's pretty far down the list of things that alarm me about this administration, because I know that the knowledge that Trump was a sexual deviant has been baked in amongst his base of supporters for a decade. He didn't stand to lose one single solitary voter even if the Epstein files revealed him as complicit.

What I'm way more concerned about is the fuckery that stands to directly impact me, my family, and hundreds of millions of my fellow Americans: the elimination of funding for vaccines and mRNA research, the skyrocketing cost of living because of the unconstitutional implementation of tariffs, and the complete cratering of the American economy. Having our suspicions confirmed about Trump's deviant sexual escapades would be pretty overall meaningless in the grand scheme of things. Losing our ability to get life-saving vaccines and losing our ability to afford everyday COL is a much more significant impact.

How Trump blunted the far-right furor over Jeffrey Epstein

Trump remains under pressure from his base to deliver transparency in the case of Jeffrey Epstein, but a review signals the president has found success in trying to change the subject.

I paid homage to Lee Atwater for his GQPer diabolical political strategy which has worked for decades...

"Perception is reality "

Make it look like to MAGA that they have all the top people, you know, the best of the best working really hard on this case to get to the bottom of it and get everything right. I imagine that's exactly how Fox News and the rest of the right-wing media propaganda machines are already selling it.

It would only be highly suspicious or possibly criminal if Dems were doing it.

Yeah the “see we told you” and “every accusation is an admission” victories are pretty fucking meaningless. Lives of nearly all Americans are going to be affected negatively by this administration and ~30% of the population straight up does not care.
