But more seriously, assuming you want a serious discussion, I would kind of struggle with that. Epstein was convicted of two felonies and served his time. Yes, I know it was a sweetheart deal and I certainly don't agree with it but leave it aside for now.

So if a guy is convicted of having sex with a 16 year old and serves his time, is he a pariah for the rest of his life? He's on the sex offender registry so in some ways yes but I'm not sure shunning them for the rest of their life is really right.

Now if an email pops up and Summers says something like "fun hanging out with you last weekend. Can I get that young girl's number?" Then he should go down hard. But if there's no proof Summers really knew anything, I don't think that forfeits membership in the human race or anything close to that.
I have to say I’m a little put off by your initial comment, “assuming you want to have a serious discussion…” as I don’t think I have ever (including this time) engaged with you in a non-serious manner. But I can put that aside, just wanted to address that point.

“If there is no proof Larry Summers knew anything…” comment confuses me. They spoke for years AFTER Epstein was convicted, so of course he knew. Everyone knew, right?

I guess we will just have to disagree, but if I found out a guy was sex trafficking young girls and also raping them, I feel pretty strongly I would shun that person forever. I also feel anyone who doesn’t definitely should be ashamed of themselves, and that is putting it extremely lightly.

(Edit to add: it seems you are trying to minimize what Epstein did by saying, “if a guy has sex with a 16 year old…”
He did that and a whole lot more, repeatedly).

Apologies. It's the site. Not you.

I would say he was convicted of having sex with a 16 year old and soliciting prostitution. I have definitely known of a few people that have solicited prostitutes and would have no problem interacting with them.

So soliciting a 16 year old... much tougher. My first instinct would be to disdain them but I'm really not sure that's right. I really do think people that have served their crimes should be able to move on. I don't think exorcising them from society is right or fair. I also don't think it helps that person rehabilitate if they can't interact with society somewhat normally. So I'd be somewhat challenged on that.

Stock market continues to take a beating.
The market is off 2000 points since ram bragged about WINNING !

What concerns me now is that the trend is a slow drift down which has been a precursor to an eventual slide into a bear market at the end of an ongoing downward drift in my experience over the last 30 years.

Hope this time it will be different...

So where are we on this bill? It's on the president's desk to sign. As I understand it he get's 10 days (excluding Sundays) to sign it. If congress is in session and he doesn't dign it, it becomes law. If congress is out of session, then it get's a "pocket vetoed", correct? I can't imagine trump will veto it directly. I guess that means shitweasel will send congress out of session so to protect Trump and give him the pocket veto?

Gaming it out, what's next? A vote in the house to override? Can the Dem procedurally force that vote, or are they reliant on the shitweasel to bring it to the floor?

"The president said “Quiet, piggy” to a female reporter who asked him about the Epstein files on Friday—a continuation of his long-standing pattern of denigrating women."

Trump is protected from getting back what he gives.
For example, given that he and his supporters are more than okay with how he acts, reporters should be able to ask, “You called a reporter piggy. Do you find it ironic that you use that term even though you are a fat disgusting slob and as physically unappealing as any president we have seen in our lifetime and it isn’t even close, you fat fucking bastard?”

Of course it wouldn’t fly, but it is what needs to happen.

This is America. You just don't call the President a "fat disgusting slob" in a press conference. Instead, you point out that a) the current President is the most obese President since William Howard Taft, b) that Trump is currently "gaining" on William Howard Taft as the "Most Obese President," and c) that maybe he should abandon his campaign to personally keep McDonald's bottom line healthy.

I'm not sure how the override process works, but Trump should be asked at every possible opportunity why he has not yet signed the bill. If he does, great. But after what he's been saying the last couple of days, he should have it thrown in his face nonstop if he tries to stonewall.

This seems to happen during every Pub presidency. Pub comes in and does stupid shit to benefit rich cronies. Economy booms, then the bubble bursts and we end up in or close to a recession. Dem comes in and fixes it. Economy eventually creeps back to good. Fox lies to its idiot base that the economy is not good. Idiot base elects another Pub who does stupid shit to benefit his rich cronies. Economy booms, then the bubble bursts again. Rinse. Repeat.

It was always bullshit.

DJIA 12 months preceding Trump's election - up 28.3%. Since - up 5.5% (for the moment)
DJIA 12 months preceding Trump's inauguration - up 16.6%. Since - up 3.6% (and falling)

He hasn't done shit for the market....or or anything else. Debt: up, Jobs: down, Inflation: up, Growth: down. No broad based economic indicator - or economic trend - is better since he was put in office than it was the day before or 12 months prior. In reality, we were the HOTTEST country in the world 12-18 months ago, and now we're DEAD!

But he has likely stolen $5-10 billion for himself and his cronies. And terrified darker people. So there's that.
