Sad. As Harry Bosch says "Everyone counts, or no one counts."

Rick Colby says he can’t support the Trump administration’s moves targeting the transgender community.

“I agree with just about everything Trump is doing except for transgender people,” Rick told CNN.

For Ashton, undergoing gender-affirming care allowed him to be in “a great place and be the person he was always meant to be, which is a man,” his father said.

“It doesn’t matter what your political affiliation is, my main concern is how to keep your child alive and help them to be happy and thrive and be productive members of society,” Rick said.

Some people will never make the final leap and understand that the difference between the threatening "them" conservatives create to win elections and "me and mine" is only as far as those conservatives want it to be.

They still don’t connect the dots. They still think Trump is a god—he just overstepped on this one issue that hurt them.
They know that admitting his failures is an admission of their own. So they’ll minimize it as much as they can, irrationally or not.

It’s like those parents who see their kids as angels who do no wrong, ever — they birthed them, and they bear the responsibility… so they’ll JCD to the end.

This South Florida suburb swung to Trump. Now many of its residents are facing deportation

...

THIS asshole.
Noel Ginestra voted for Trump, but now his sister, who is a TPS holder, is facing possible deportation. While he still backs the president, he said he hoped the TPS revocation is blocked in the courts.

“I supported him, but it disappointed us that he decided to end TPS,” Ginestra said, referring to Venezuelans. “It bothered us that he put everyone in the same bucket.”

Rick is a lying piece of shit.

If his main concern was his child he wouldn't have voted for someone that wanted to abolish his child's rights. Clearly his main concern was tariffs, removing brown people, firing a many federal workers as possible, and destabilizing trade since he voted for the person that made that his agenda.

Sounds like more, I'm ok with fucking people as long as I'm not getting fucked.

I voted for my children. that is why I voted against the man that said he would take rights from my children. No policy was above my children.

They are angry with plans by Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency to cut seven thousand jobs, and they’re concerned about the potential closure of the social security office in Presque Isle.

It’s the only one in Aroostook County, and its closure would force those who need services to drive to Bangor.

Aroostook County: +26 Trump.

Shouldn't Susan Collins be doing something to help?

lots in that article, but I like this one personally:

Marcia, 67, is another Trump voter who was fired from her federal job, and she said she feels "extremely let down."

"He was going to make prices lower. He was going to make gas cheaper. He was going to help the middle-class people in America," Marcia, who is seeking to reinstate her position, said.

The National Weather Service employee said that they voted for Trump because they wanted the country to return to how things were in 2019. Instead, they said, "This is just the most toxic environment I've ever seen."

The employee described feeling "hoodwinked" by the president. During the campaign, this person said that they trusted Trump when he said he had nothing to do with Project 2025, the conservative blueprint authored by the Heritage Foundation. Among other things, Project 2025 described breaking up the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which houses the National Weather Service.

Following the election, Trump nominated Russell Vought, a key architect of Project 2025, to lead the White House's Office of Management and Budget.

"I said, 'I'll believe Trump, he won't do everything in there,'" the National Weather Service worker said, "but then all of a sudden, everything is starting to come true."

...

Marcia said she felt confident in her vote back in November because of Trump's promises to boost the economy and crack down on border policy. But if she knew then what she knows now, she would never have cast that vote.

"I've been a Republican all my life, and this is the first time that a Republican president misled me," Marcia said "If I knew I was going to lose my job because Trump became president, no, I would not vote for him."

Well, fuck you Marcia.

Many, many people warned that this is exactly what would happen if Trump was elected. I guess PT Barnum was right - there really is a sucker born every minute (and yes, I know he likely didn't say it, but no matter who said that it's still accurate.)

AND you're not allowing for the population explosion.

This is why I think Susan Collins will retire. She can't run away from this, and in any event doesn't seem to be trying.
