I guess I'm too young to have ever heard of the double nickel. I didn't know that piece of slang. Now I understand the title of the classic Minutemen Album "double nickel on the dime." Going 55 on I-10. LOL.

I had forgotten about the double nickel until VooDoo mentioned it. I can remember during the Arab oil embargo when two highway patrol officers would line their cars up side by side on the interstate. They would drive at 55 like that until they each had a line of cars behind them. Then the one on the inside lane would pull over. The first two cars that passed them got ticketed.
 
55 mph sucked. And it stayed that way far too long.

But $5 per gal. Is still a thing in America. Murikans don’t like dat.
