Same, and I am a huge Reba fan. But that song is simply awful. There may not be a song I hate more than that one.

Why the hate?Same, and I am a huge Reba fan. But that song is simply awful.
Well, I have to admit that I may have misunderstood the song. It gave me huge white trash vibes and I hated it party because I thought it was just another song celebrating white trashiness. (I also didn't know it was a cover.)Why the hate?
Written and originally recorded by Bobbie Gentry a couple of years after her big hit "Ode to Billie Joe"Well, I have to admit that I may have misunderstood the song. This thread and watching the video kind of gives me a new perspective on it.
It is still grating partly because I hate Reba's over the top accent thrown in. (Hate when country singers do that.) Now thanks to you I have it stuck in my head. ;-)
Yeah, it's definitely important to remember Fancy is a cover. I love Reba. I wish she hadn't covered it. But for a pretty girl growing up in dirt-poor Mississippi in the '40s and '50s, it had a different level of authenticity.Written and originally recorded by Bobbie Gentry a couple of years after her big hit "Ode to Billie Joe"
TMI about yourself, lawtig. But for a pretty girl growing up in dirt-poor Mississippi in the '40s and '50s, it had a different level of authenticity.
