Former GOP election official buys Dominion Voting Systems

I more and more feel that we are fucked. They are either going to rig the elections or just not follow the results.
It's the Orbanization of American politics. You control the voting devices and the counting of the votes, then you can determine who wins the elections, plain and simple. Orban has never stopped holding elections in Hungary, he's just rigged them so his political party can never lose their majorities. Trumpers are trying to do at the national level what they've already done at the state level in most red states - gerrymander legislatures so that Democrats have no realistic chance to ever win back control, and it is actually fairly easy to win veto-proof supermajorities, create and fund right wing "think tanks" to write reactionary legislation for said legislatures to pass, gradually strip Democratic governors and other members of state executive branches of more and more of their constitutional duties and powers and transfer them to the legislative branch in red and purple states (like here in NC), and so on.

Putting aside all other (crazy) speculation, I think paper ballots, which are scanned by (Dominion/Liberty, etc) tabulating machines, is the better option because there is a physical record of how each person voted.

I don't care for all electronic voting.

EDIT: I'll also note that states aren't required to use a specific brand of tabulator. If any states have issues with Liberty machines, they are welcome to switch brands.

And of course our local fence riding bosiding troll, zen, responds with laughter.
Yes, because it's funny when people take words out of context, to misrepresent what is meant, and then use those misrepresented words to stir up panic.
They laughed when he said he wanted to be a dictator also....
Right. That's a good example.

Another one is the Charlottesville "good people on both sides" quote that is constantly misrepresented.

True. But, red states will do as told. And D/L machines are going to be “BEAUTIFUL”.

Care to share the context? I remember the first quote and it is not something that is being taken out of context. I can’t even imagine a context that would make that quote acceptable.

As for the good people on both sides, I will give Trump enough credit in that he wasn’t saying all of the Neo Nazis were good but you don’t equivocate in a situation where literally Nazis are running around saying “Jews will not replace us” and one of them rammed his car into a bunch of pedestrians killing one.

Trump’s response on that was entirely irresponsible even if you give him all of the benefit of the doubt.

yeah, there was no misrepresentation by @Mulberry Heel nor is there additional context that fixes either the "good people on both sides" or "dictator" quotes.

zen is just full of shit and loudly wrong, per usual.

If you're talking about the "you won't need to vote any more", if you hear the entire thought, he's pretty clearly saying that he's going to fix the country so YUGELY that nobody will need to vote again!

Yep, Trump says lot of dumb things. There's no need to make up more.

REPORTER: The neo-Nazis started this thing. They showed up in Charlottesville.

TRUMP: Excuse me, they didn’t put themselves down as neo-Nazis, and you had some very bad people in that group. But you also had people that were very fine people on both sides. You had people in that group – excuse me, excuse me. I saw the same pictures as you did. You had people in that group that were there to protest the taking down, of to them, a very, very important statue and the renaming of a park from Robert E. Lee to another name.

REPORTER: George Washington and Robert E. Lee are not the same.

TRUMP: Oh no, George Washington was a slave owner. Was George Washington a slave owner? So will George Washington now lose his status? Are we going to take down – excuse me. Are we going to take down, are we going to take down statues to George Washington? How about Thomas Jefferson? What do you think of Thomas Jefferson? You like him? Okay, good. Are we going to take down his statue? He was a major slave owner. Are we going to take down his statue? You know what? It’s fine, you’re changing history, you’re changing culture, and you had people – and I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally – but you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists, okay? And the press has treated them absolutely unfairly. Now, in the other group also, you had some fine people, but you also had troublemakers and you see them come with the black outfits and with the helmets and with the baseball bats – you had a lot of bad people in the other group too.

Could you please identify some of the very fine people who were protesting alongside the neo-Nazis and white nationalists in Charlottesville? TIA.

Your opinion of people who don't want to tear down statues is irrelevant to the fact that Trump literally clarified who he was/wasn't talking about and he was NOT talking about neo-nazis or white supremacists, which he specifically said.

Zen is the Steve Bannon of the ZZL. Just flood the zone with bullshit. Now you're suddenly debating something from damn near ten years ago that has absolutely zero to do with the thread. He's an unserious poster and he should be treated the same way George Stephanopoulos treated JD Vance this weekend.

Ok, I think I understand. He was just talking about the very fine people who willingly and enthusiastically marched alongside the neo-Nazis and white supremacists. Makes sense.

That's better treatment than he merits.
