Unfortunately true

This is what the sane among us have been trying to tell MAGAs like Ram for 10+ years now. Our republic depends on norms. But the norms have now been broken. That started with Trump. Nothing before Trump broke the norms. Only Trump and his supporters broke the norms. But now that MAGA has broken the norms, there are no more norms. So buckle up, princess. The minority of Americans may have to find out what happens in the absence of a constitutional order that was designed to protect the freedoms of the minority.

For the most part, Dems have been trying to not only win elections and govern, but also protect the institutions, rules, and norms of both government and society. While this is hilarious, it carries the risk of normalizing absolute stupidity as a legitimate form of communication.

And, make no mistake, once this gets a bit down the road the right-wing will attempt to defend Trump's terrible communication abilities by referencing Newsom and ignoring/forgetting that this is all parody. Continuing in this path lowers the bar for politician communication that will have to be repaired.
Yes. But it’s like gerrymandering. Dems all hate it and it should be outlawed, but unless you win and gain power, there is no way to change it. Only way to stop it is to win and throw the bums out of office and get to work to make changes so that none of this can happen again.

Lack of civility in election politics in the current era can be traced directly to Karl Rove. He took negative campaigning and muckraking to a new level.
Trump has elevated it to an art form.
I can't think of a precedent for his Project 2025 systematic transformation of our Constitutional system of checks and balances and utter disregard for the rule of law.

Ask yourself if there were an authenticated, date/time stamped, iron-clad chain of custody video of St. Donald of Mar-a-Lago raping a crying, screaming 13-year-old girl, while Epstein cheered St. Donald on and made suggestions to St. Donald, then would every Republican in America would scream, "That's a faked video!"? For Republicans, worship of St. Donald is an act of faith that only requires belief, and facts are irrelevant. Facts can never overcome a belief because a belief is not based on facts. Elections aren't going to change what has happened in America. What will be required is for several generations of people who remember and long for "white male privilege" to die and be replaced by people for whom the notion of "white male privilege" will be as archaic and despicable as slavery is now. How long? Within my lifetime, I had people tell me, "You don't understand what slavery was and why it was needed." Within my lifetime, I had people tell me, "The biggest evil of slavery was (words suggesting miscegenation)." The type of person who in the past defended slavery and minimized its inherent evil are still with us now and they vote for St. Donald.

That is certainly one view on the situation.

I would say that it would be perfectly understandable to take a different view on something concrete, like gerrymandering, than on something more nebulous, like communications standards. It is a lot easier, from a pragmatic view, to undo gerrymandering across the board and have fairer elections than it is to undo crass and infantile communications as the latter is much more subjective than the former.

True, and I'd actually add in Lee Atwater even earlier - I believe Atwater was the force behind the infamous "Willie Horton" ad attacking Dukakis. What Rove & Company did to John McCain in the 2000 South Carolina primary was pretty brutal. But yeah, Trump has taken it to level that Atwater and Rove could only have imagined.

Pretty sad that the only thing you can do is copy and mimic Trump. Get your own style or be content being a Beatles cover band.

People not impressed. Try governing California for a change - it’s not like it doesn’t have any pressing issues.

Go just a bit further back... and you've nailed it.

I gotta give you props. The trolling is some of the best I’ve seen in awhile. You even got me a couple times. Respect for your commitment to the bit.

Absolutely. I've been saying that for quite a while now and I've stopped responding to him. No way he's a serious poster, even if he actually is an attorney.

This is why nobody takes you seriously. You still believe he’s trying to mimic Trump. You are literally too stupid to see what is obvious to anyone outside of the Trumposphere: It’s not mimicry, it’s mockery.
