It creates that possibility.
Oh I think we are beyond the point of that being a certainty. There will be entire new generations of terrorists worldwide who target Americans because of the messes we are making in their back yards. By the time I am retired, I fully expect Venezuelans to be as radicalized against the US as many in the Middle East are...because we are following the same path.

I don’t think he is always an asshole. There are many people who oppose him who have said their opinions changed after meeting him in person and privately. I think he is always an asshole when it comes to something business related or some deal he is trying to make where he has the leverage.

Exodus 22:18

;Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

Not all leverage is good. If you are my neighbor and I want to buy your house, tear it down, and build a swimming pool, I can create leverage by kidnapping your kids and telling you that I'm going to slowly cut their fingers and toes off until you capitulate and give me your property at a bargain bin rate. Isn't that illegal? Sure, but so is invading an ally. Does using that "leverage" make someone a good businessman? No, it makes them a villain.
OK. Im not defending trump’s business ethics or negotiation tactics.

Ok. We disagree. No matter what positions we take in geopolitics some group is going to be angry. I think there will be far more positives for Venezuelans than negatives if we do what we say is the plan and actually ensure that they are the beneficiaries of their resources and don’t live under rule of a dictator. Foreign policy cant be ruled by fear of pissing off a minority of people who want to keep a dictator.

Lol..who said anything about wanting to keep a dictator? In case you haven't noticed, it is Trump who is absolutely keeping the dictatorial regime in place in exchange for raping VZ of resources. How you think that will end well is entirely beyond me.

By the way...where is the stated plan to make sure that Venezuelans are the beneficiaries of their resources? I have not once heard Donald Trump speak to that. He has certainly spoken a LOT as to how those resources will benefit Americans and American companies.

Why is he doing that? There is a very sound reason for it and has said it’s temporary

Please elaborate on the sound reason for keeping every aspect of the dictatorship in place if the goal is to remove the dictatorship.

Nevermind. Dont. Not the right thread and I dont want to hijack.

I'd love to know who the "many" people are who have met Trump who have been positively impressed by him after meeting him and changed their minds about him in a positive way. To the contrary, most of what I've read since 2016 have been people who had never met or dealt with him before who come away very unimpressed and even alarmed at just how narcissistic, self-absorbed, easily distracted and bored, and distanced from reality he is about nearly everything.

Like Tony Schwartz, the ghostwriter that Trump hired to write his bestselling The Art of the Deal in 1987 who spent 18 months with Trump writing the book and later said that he regretted adding to the false "Trump is a great businessman" legend. In 2016 Schwartz went around telling anyone who would listen that Trump wasn't qualified to be POTUS, and he knew because he'd spent 18 months with the guy and knew what he was like.

I would imagine the reference is to other narcissistic assholes such as Bill Maher who meet Trump and find a kindred spirit.
