Trump has run into a real adversary that loves to posture as much as he does, with an administration that is no more likely to back down than his does. Tough guy online socisl media threats and barbs should not be how we perform political negotiations. Particularly in war time. So, yeah, getting out is a shitty strategy, and a shitier thing to do to the Iranians who are fighting for their lives for political and social freedom. It still is, likely, the best strategy we have. There is no winning a war big enough to meet the needs Calla hopes for, without better diplomacy than what the US has to offer.
This is what happens when you have an administration which is totally disconnected from reality and in which appearances rather than substance and competence are all that matters. Trump's Secretary of "War" believes that acting tough and macho and doing manly pushups and flexing and renaming things to sound tougher (soldiers as "warfighters") is the key to quick victories. Trump himself believes that if you bomb the hell out of somebody then they'll just roll over for the mighty US of A and give up. There is no understanding whatsoever of the history of that region, of Iran's ability to close the strait and keep fighting, of the lessons of America's unhappy experiences with trying to force our will onto unwilling countries (Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, etc.)

And imo, something like this was bound to happen in Trump's second term, because he and his minions are so disconnected from reality and no doubt believed that our military might was invincible, so our will was invincible. And they hate experts, so they almost certainly ignored the advice they were getting from our military and foreign policy experts in the federal bureacracy about the dangers of what they wanted to do. Trump 2.0 was always going to stumble into a foreign policy disaster somewhere. And we're going to be damned lucky if it doesn't happen at least once more before he's done, and maybe even worse next time.

Trump ordered this war; so, you support it. Blindly support it.
Chicken shit post. I have openly provided my opinion and reasons. You seem either afraid to do the same or unwilling. Cant have a discussion with someone who just wants the other to provide opinions and reasons just for the purpose of attacking it. Waste of time.

Ah yes, the Israeli-Jewish point of view. Of course they think all the blame lies with Iran. I do agree that Iran is a evil regime, but Israel started this conflict, so what did they expect? They had to know Iran would close the Strait of Hormuz, but apparently they didn't care. Just like they didn't care about the tens of thousands of innocent Gazans they killed and the wholesale destruction of the Gaza strip during their war, as long as it advanced their goals.

This is a BS war.

Started by a poorly informed POTUS.

A war started with no consultation with our NATO or Asian allies.

Maybe with no consultation with our Gulf “allies.” Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, and the other Gulf states are not American allies. But, their opinions on starting a war in their front yard matter.

We did consult with Israel. Israel is NOT an American ally. Israel is NO ONE’S ally. You either back Israel 100% or you can fuck off and die.

A war started with no clear objectives. A war started with no Congressional or popular support.

What should we do?

Well, we broke it. As did Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, and Dubya in Iraq.

We can’t fix it.

So, I advocate we leave.
