As dumb as it may be, this is at least the way it should happen. Congress can certainly pay for it if they want. But good luck defending that to voters spending their entire paycheck at the grocery store.

That is what should have happened at the very beginning, but Trump is allergic to having to get Congress' approval for anything. He wants to be a king who can build anything he feels like. He doesn't want to be told what he can do or how he can do it.

So what should happen is a law is passed to build a smaller ballroom that fits in with the design of the white house and Trump can't change the design without approval from Congress.

I preferred the Capitol Hilton over the Washington Hilton when in DC. Wash. Hilton was kind of a dump, but they had the cavern ballroom.

POTUS was not in any danger, but it was pretty stupid to bring much of the cabinet. That's unusual. But then Trump is pretty stupid.
