Good faith privately-funded White House ballroom discussion

Libs are obsessing about affordability, housing, democracy, gas prices, and inflation. It's the Ballroom Republicans who are obsessing over trump's latest monument to himself.
Please point me to the MN fraud thread. I’d like to add this to it since I doubt many are aware. It touches on many of the issues dems are obsessing over. Billions in public funds vs hundreds of millions in private funds.

Ok, so extreme wing nuts and those on the zzl. Because this board is slam full of what I described. Im not watching people in MN lose their shit over ice? It isn’t the mainstream dem party enacting sanctuary laws where they refuse to notify ice if a rapist is about to be released? They would literally rather a rapist or child molester go free than let ice know so they could pick them up safely. This board completely supports that. That isn’t right wing media, that is what your party is. Might not be what you individually are, but if you look to the poster on either side of you, only one of you isnt like what you claim. This board is my exposure to the dem party. It is what I base my opinions of your party on.
I am going to need some evidence on this one. Yes, many of us support sanctuary city laws where the police do not inform ice when they release someone from custody. The vast majority of the time time this is for nonviolent crimes that would amount to misdemeanors.

Can you give me a cite for one instance where a municipal police department in a sanctuary city has let a rapist who is an undocumented immigrant go and then not informed ICE? Generally, accused rapists do not get released from jail at all, based on their potential danger to the community.

One would think that and it should be the case. I mean gas is up due to Iran, inflation, while lower than biden’s, is higher than he said it would be, he mismanaged the deportations, and according to you guys he is insane. Should be a blue wave. Yet your platform = We Hate Trump. Along with defund ice, fuck the XX chromosome sports, we love trans athletes more, we love socialists, we hate Jews, and we hate trump. So when trump hands you the midterms on a platter, it’s amazing that the midterms are a toss up because independent soccer moms hate the liberal platform as much as they despise trump. Congrats on that.
This dude is completely unhinged. Or drunk.

Please regale us with your vast understanding of the incentives provided by the local government of Asheville.
You should be able to find them in the Fox News talking points, but we know how accurate Fox News talking points are so take it with a grain of salt.

Then how do you explain Asheville? On paper, due to winter weather, it should have the least homeless than any other major NC city. Yet, we know the reality. Could it be the incentives the local government offers and isn’t that similar to California on a state level?
There’s a lot here that could be addressed, but I just want to address the comments about Asheville winter weather. Asheville is not at a very high elevation and are winters relatively mild in Asheville. You don’t generally deal with harsh winter weather there and it rarely snows. Certainly much warmer than anywhere in the Northeast or Midwest.

Here are some comparisons for average high/low temps in January, the coldest month of the year:
Asheville - 47/28
Greensboro - 48/28
Winston-Salem - 49/31
Durham - 50/27
Chapel Hill - 50/28
Raleigh - 50/31
Charlotte - 51/31
Atlanta - 53/33

By contrast, Boone, NC is at a higher elevation that Asheville (by about 1,100 feet) and is also farther up north. Its average high/low temp for January is 41/23.

It's never their policies
I’m curious what policies these are. While I think the homelessness issue in Asheville is being overstated, I do agree that it is apparent in the downtown area (perhaps they are not all homeless, but you have your share of people there who are clearly struggling in life, whether it is homelessness, mental illness, drug addiction, or a combination). It’s easy to notice these people in downtown Asheville because it’s so compact, though it’s probably not worse than in Charlotte or many other places.

As far as what brings those people to Asheville, more than anything it’s that Asheville is a rare urban center in the NC mountains that attracts a lot of people and tourists. And as it brings a lot of people in, that includes those who are struggling in life. And they find their way downtown because that is where the most people are at any given time, and they neg for money there more easily, or find more food in the trash there, or congregate with other people like them who are struggling and willing to socialize with them and also work with them to score money and food that they share, or score substances that they are addicted to because those who sell those substances will go to where the people who are addicted to them congregate and/or because others who use may be willing to share.

Then you have the people in Asheville who RBG (from the old ZZL) used to call “trustafarians.” Basically young adults who come from money and view Asheville as a desirable place to be. They’re a bunch of slackers who go there to “party” and “live the simple life.” You see them hanging around downtown Asheville looking unkempt and wearing raggedy clothes, sometimes playing musical instruments badly (though occasionally fairly well).
