Think about how batshit crazy this is: We have a president basically taking credit for his economy being so shitty that a major retailer has to offer a cheaper version of their annual Thanksgiving dinner in both quality and quantity.

“If my economy wasn’t such a flaming dumpster fire, you would have never received the savings at Walmart that you’ll receive this holiday. All praise me!”

Holy fuck, this guy is mental.

Trump says he shouldn’t have to use the food emergency fund for SNAP because “… our country has to remain very liquid because problems, catastrophes, wars could be anything. We have to remain liquid. We can’t give everything away based on a number. In here’s an example: when I was president the number that you’re talking about was a tiny fraction of what it is now. Biden went totally crazy, gave it to anybody who would ask. Gave it to people that were able bodied and no problem, anybody that would ask would get the number and many times the number of people are on it. This wasn’t meant for that. It was meant for people that have real problems, n many cases people that were down and out, people that could be saved, it wasn’t meant for people that could do whatever they want, people that say well I do t think I’ll work, I’ll just you know collect this money …”

He’s not wrong that SNAP benefits have spiked, but that started during his administration due to COVID and as the enhanced benefits terminated, other changes in SNAP eligibility rules prevented it from returning to re-pandemic levels. Not many multiples of prior spending as he claims but certainly higher than had things remain unchanged since 2019 (when SNAP benefits had been reduced several years running after highs during the aftermath of the Great Recession).

Normal maga bullshit, they have to lie.

I'm sure I'll see maga cult members talking about how cheap the walmart meal is, glad I have the response already.
This is for 20-25 adults.

Some of my responses would be:
  • My cheesecake costs me $35-40 to make
  • I likely have $5-10 just in the spices for the pumpkin and apple pies; the apple pie has maybe $10 of apples (I like a MOUNDED apple pie). I forgot the butter. Increase the cost.
  • The cheese put out for appetizers is $75-100.
  • We’re not drinking Beringer White Zinfandel. The wine bill is likely $250-300; depends on who is there. $250 on the bottom end. Could go HIGHER. As in…..time to open some vintage Bordeaux (wrong wine for turkey); might be OK for post-supper bullshitting; definitely time to open some well-aged Burgundy - Pinot Noir and the mess that is Thanksgiving Dinner work…..some well-aged Oregon Pinot will work.
  • Beer - let’s call it $100

I was so excited to hear that the cost of Thanksgiving dinner was decreasing 25% !

Each year I buy a Honeybaked ham. Last year the cost for me was $56 for the smallest ham so I called the store figuring this years cost would be around $45. Imagine my surprise when I heard the price would be $84

The good news was that this year they offer a smaller size for only $64. I will just tell my family they will have to eat fewer slices this year.

Thanks Biden:mad:

For a couple years I would order a big tenderloin for Christmas at Cliffs in Carrboro
I wonder what that would cost today?
