Now?Now we know the truth
It very much has. Lots of factorsWonder if migrant labor at meatpacking plants has affected this price of beef.
Lack of it - that's part. It also requires significant energy to produce...and labor on farms as well as the meat packing plants. It very much has. Lots of factors
I doubt the cattle "growers" are seeing much of the new profitThe cattle business is tough. You pay $1800 for a calf, feed it for six months, then sell it for $3000. You lose a few calves to illness or injury. You have to produce your own feed- hay and silage- to turn a profit. Machinery, labor, fertilizer, diesel are all going higher faster than than the price you get from the processor. Drought in Texas has contributed to the problem by reducing the size of breeding herds which drives up the cost of calves. It’s a tough way to make a living.
It's a lie. Ground beef is still double the price it was a few years ago.Someone show me where beef prices came down. Bought a 2.5 lb. chuck roast last week for $46. Forty-six fucking dollars. Two years ago that same cut cost me $25 tops.
On a related note, I just bought one pack of (6) hot dogs for $11.49 so my kids could have a quick, easy weeknight meal. $11.49. Same hot dogs used to run around $6. Last year they jumped up to $9. Now $11. Where does it fucking end?
This buffoon administration, and its fluffers like Bessent and this Hassett loony, can all go kick rocks. I can't fucking wait for MAGA to shrivel up and die.
